I have been having bad luck with Chi irons lately. Eveytime I buy a new one it only seems to last for a little over a year and then it stops working. This has happened with the two most recent that I have bought. Are there any good ceramic straighteners on the market today that hold up better than the CHI? I am in desperate need of one and don't want to spend more money on one if its only going to last for a year. Anyone know of anything or anywhere other than EBAY to find cheap CHI irons? Thanks!
My friend had the same problem with her Chi. SHe bought a differnt one at Sallys-I think the Generic brand, but I am not sure. It ws $50 or $70 (cheaper than the chi) and has a 2 year warranty instead of one. She said it works just as well as the Chi. GOod luck!
I have to use a straightner in my hair. I am an ex-cosmotologist and I shop and get all my hair needs at Sally's Beauty Supply, and the straightner I use is by "Jilbere" porcelain series and I have had my for about 3 yrs. no problems. Hopefully this helps you.
My Chi did the same thing. The blades came off....I returned it back to CHI they replaced/fixed it for $50.00. My cousin bought one from Target I think it was made by Bed Head and loves it. The blades are larger. Also I'm not sure of the brand, but several of my friends purchased one off HSN and they like it better than the CHI. Hope this helps.

Yup, Sally's. My daughter bought a chi a few years and it was great. Then when it burned out we heard about the generic one at sally's and it's just as comparable. It cost only about $60.00- $70.00.

Hi J.! I have to use a hair straightener every day. I have naturally, thick wavy/curly hair that frizzes out. I've never used the CHI but my sister-in-law is a hairdresser and she has one. She's been lucky because hers has not had problems, but she says that many people in the industry have problems with it. She does not recommend it. So I found a great website (folica.com) where people can give reviews on different hair products. I ended up buying the Solia and it is currently priced at $88.00 with FREE shipping (comes with a free pouch that I use on my bathroom countertop, so it won't get damaged). Cheaper than the CHI. I've been very happy with it. I've had it since Christmas and it has not failed me yet. Very durable. I like the cool blue color. And heats up quick. I used to have a cheaper straightener I bought from Wal-Mart for $30. It took me forever to straighten my hair. This one has cut my styling time in half. They come in different sizes (3/4", 1", 1-1/4", and 1-3/4"). The prices will vary by a couple of dollars depending on what size you want. I have the 1" one. The link above is for the 1-1/4". It has the most reviews (over 2,500)... You can also search the site to look at other popular hair straighteners (or products). The Solia is one of the most popular ones since it's priced under $100 and does a great job, comparable to the CHI.
