Hi Ladies. I need your thoughts/opinions on a good/reasonable carpet cleaning company. We just bought a new house in Frisco and need to have the whole thing thoroughly cleaned before we move in. I would need 3 bedrooms, walk in closets, and 3 living areas done. I have heard of good and bad companies so the more input the better! Thank you!

Hi there,

I have a great company for you. It is independently owned and the prices are very reasonable. I have used them multiple times at my own home and refer them to all my friends and clients (I am a Realtor). You will love him - great guy and great work. The company name is Heaven's Best and his name is Loren Brown. Number is ###-###-####. Website is www.heavensbest.com. I believe he lives in the Frisco area.

Good luck! Please tell him that K. referred you.

I use Cornerstone Chem Dry - they are FABULOUS. I have them come out every 4-6 months (I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 kids under 4!!!). Their prices are very competitive and their technicians and friendly and professional!!

If you use them - make sure and buy a Spot Extinguisher before they leave - they are fabulous for when your kids spill spagetti, chocolate ice cream, etc!!

Here's their information:

M., I'm sure that the folks who own Heaven's Best are wonderful people, but what they are offering is a dry-cleaning process. Just make sure that you know that before you buy. I work with Fiber-Seal of Dallas (www.fiberseal.com), and we'll use a dry-cleaning process on wool carpets, but all others benefit from warm-water extraction. The residue left on the carpet fibers from dry-cleaning and too much soap leave it sticky, which is why the carpets seem to get dirty so much faster after you clean them.

We also have a wonderful fabric protection product that reduces the absorbency rate of the fibers, whether it's a wall-to-wall carpet, a chenille sofa, or silk draperies. Plus, when you use our protection service, you can call us for 12 months and we'll come out and re-clean and re-protect the spots FOR FREE! I would love to give you a bid on our services. Also, if you need the rest of the house cleaned, Bruce Horrie with Make-Ready Cleaning ###-###-####) is awesome. He will scour the walls, the cabinets, door jambs, floorboards, everything! Extremely detail-oriented. I look forward to hearing from you!

Oh, and if you are interested, another Mamasource poster used our services after her daughter vomited tomato sauce all over her Ethan Allen rocker, and we were able to make that look like new again. Yes, we're that good! :-)

Are you talking newly built or a new home for you but used?

I don't have experience with purchasing a used home because we've always built from scratch but...If I bought a used home, I would invest in new carpets and pads. It would just make the whole thing cleaner. I actually prefer no carpet so I have my carpet limited in my home.

Also, if you are buying new from a builder there should be no reason to have to clean carpets unless the builder damaged them therefore should be the builder's responsibility to clean them.

M.,
TLC in Carrolton is very good, too. And I would go for the warm water extraction.

As far as chemicals... I would just make sure you are not in the house when it's done and that you let it dry before going in... there are lots of theories, including the one the Travolta's purport. And too many chemicals is bad, so you need to evaluate the benefits and your options.

If the carpet is really old and gross, I'd buy a new one because there's lots of great deals now and it's easier to put in before you have the furniture in the house. And with new carpet, I'd let it air out for a few days too.

I recommend Astros Carpet Cleaning. You can reach them at ###-###-####. They made my carpet like new. My neighbor had pet stains on her carpet and they not only removed them but there is no trace of odor anymore! The staff was quick and efficient. I will use them again.
