Any recommendations on an auto repair shop that is reliable,honest,etc.

We have used Busse Automotive in downtown MP, very good reputation - I am a regular at MP's car show and they are respected even among car enthusiasts. I also know a gearhead who uses Scarsdale Auto Repair in Arlington. The Marathon guys at Central & NW Hwy are okay but it's a mess over there.
We used to use Lattof Chevy for our cavalier.....3 yrs ago we had a problem with our starter "fixed" there. (this was the 2nd time for the same thing) It cost us $1000 each time and was never really "right". A couple of weeks ago the same problem arose. We took it to PeP Boys up on Rand....they FIXED the problem for just $600!! They put in a whole new part ( the other guys just "repaired" the original part) gave us a whole new key system...we had the car towed there (Pep Boys provides towing for just $40) and within 36hrs we had our car back...( the other guys kept it a week). Sooo long story short...Pep Boys all the way. I have never been more pleased.

I have brought my car to DJ"s Auto Service Center in Schaumburg for years-it is in Schaumburg but if that isn't too far, they are honest and reliable and I won't go to anyone else! Their number is ###-###-####.
Trust me there are NONE. You will likely get ripped off wherever you go, especially any dealerships. I do know a few private mechanics though that I use, but there are close to Chicago. What do you need done? I can find out if they are able to do it.
We really like Skylark Garage on Busse in Park Ridge. I think they're honest and fair.
Pat and Chucks Auto Repair on Touhy and River Rd. It is in Des Plaines, but they are very responsible! Been going there forever!!
I actually drive from Roselle to go to the Shell station on River Road and Oakton. My independent car dealer where I purchased my vehicle uses them. So good, so honest, and so inexpensive!!!! Don't have the info on me but write back if interested.
My husband worked in Mt. Prospect for 9 years and would take our car to Hellstrom Automative at 190 S. Wolf Rd., Des Plaines, IL 60016. Their number is ###-###-####. It's owned and run by a father and son and my husband totally trusted them and they did great work! I think they are pretty busy, though. Always a good sign...
There's a Marathon station at Central and Northwest Hwy, Formula Automotive, that we have been very happy with.

Steve's automotive on Central and Wolf, and for body work Wally's on Golf just east of Rand. I have been using Steve's for probably 10 years - we have four cars in our family. Steve recommended Wally's when we needed body work and they did a great job!
