Women Friendly Auto Repair

I have had it up to here with rip off dealer service departments. I went from bad to worse, apparently. Ironically the whole reason I sold my car was to get rid of the reminder of the thousands of dollars I spent in overpriced, questionable repairs. Jennings in Glenview and Autobarn in Evanston are the service departments of which I speak.
My question is, does ANYONE recommend a service (mazda) department. I will travel far, but hopefully in Illinois. I am desperate!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I can't tell you how grateful I am for the tips. I will try Jennifer B's suggestion first since it is my hometown (definitely tell them you recommended me). I am so happy to know that there are places out there. Thanks!

Doc Ables in Evanston I have found to be pretty good for repair work. I never take it to the dealer..they will always rip you off.

Hope that helps!

Hi Natalie,
I'm not sure how far you are from Palatine, but I have been very happy with my mechanic. The name of the place is Colfax Auto Repair. The contact info is 542 W. Colfax Palatine 60067 Ph: ###-###-####. The owner is Vince and is usually the one who answers the phone. They aren't always the most super-friendly over the phone, but always polite. We've been going to them for four years now and have always been satisfied with both the work and the price. Plus, Vince has a new baby boy and pictures of him in the front office. If you ask about the baby, he instantly melts and becomes any other adoring daddy bragging about his baby.
Good luck!

I am completely happy with C&M Auto Repair in Glenview at the southeast corner of Milwaukee and Glenview Roads (just behind Kathe's gas/car wash). They are experts, and I believe they are truly trustworthy. Several awards. Amazingly clean space, comfortable and productive waiting room, loaner cars and/or pickup service, and really friendly decent people. They are not discount but I believe give honest and real value. Example: by the time you have oil change and then use their free coupon for car wash next door (worth 12-14 dollars), you've effectively spent under $30 which is same as Jiffy Lube but had a top notch inspection and service. Everytime you refer a friend you get a discount coupon yourself. My friends love it now too. It's wonderful. Tell them J. B. sent you!

Natalie,
I see you mentioned Jennings and Autobarn, so I'm hoping you're in the northwest suburbs. I myself am in the automotive industry. (parts) I have a guy up in Glenview on Waukegan Rd. that is the only person I take my car to and have for years! He is a great mechanic, runs an honest shop and is well priced. It is called Auto Repair with Steve. His phone number is ###-###-####. He is at 1131 Waukegan Rd. Even when I lived in Hanover Park, I still took my car to him religiously. He works on every year make and model of vehicle and is well certified. I hope this helps. Feel free to let me know how your search goes and if I can be of any other help.

I go to Oz Automotive on Western and Chicago. Ask for 'Sigh'(I think this is how you spell his name) He is really great and a dad of two himself. I do not know the number off hand, but you should be able to google the number. His service is connected to a Citgo.

Good Luck!

I know a wonderful Mechanic, but he runs his own business. He is reliable, fair and honest I have been going tohim for over 8 years. He is very Woman friendly when I go their most of his customers are women.

I grew up with a car dealer dad and one thing I learned is you can find a good reliable mechanic that has nothing to do with a dealership. (Unless your car is under warranty)

If you are interested he is in Des Plaines his business is called Denny G's. ###-###-####

I am not sure what type of auto repair you need, but I recently had some body damage repaired on my Chrysler mini-van through Lekas Auto Construction. He is in Glenview and he seemed very honest, even giving me a print-out of part costs. He was about $1,000 cheaper than the other place I received a quote from. Though his shop is very small and the smell of smoke is overwhelming, he did a good job fixing the car and I believe he is fair.

Good luck!!!

What's the connection with this car? Get rid of the money-pit and buy American so parts don't have to be sent for and you'll be doing your part to keep Americans working. I've had 7 Chevys in my life and never had a problem with 1 !!! I just wanted a new one so I would trade it in.

I have been using Nuts & Volts in Lombard on Main St. (handful of blocks south of North Avenue) for years. The owner is a friend of my parents. The employees have been there for YEARS and the owner himself works on the cars as well. They have always been more than fair. Their number is ###-###-####.
