My kids are in need of an orthodontist. We have an appt. with one today but my sister and many of you suggest at least 2 opinions... So any recommendations are welcome.

Most definitely I would recommend Dr. Robert Kent. He's on Six Forks, above Dr. Pfeferlee and Kindrachuck's office. My son is special needs and he is OUTSTANDING in dealing with my son. He's a real gem! We love him dearly and could not imagine going anywhere else. His office is there before you get to Sawmill heading down Six Forks from 540, on the left.

A dentist and an orthodontist recommended braces for my daughter. But then we went to a holistic dentist and he recommended an Ortho-tain (he is a dentist in Kansas, we went to see him while visiting my mom). So we found a dentist in this area, through the above website - Dr. Ferzli, who is great btw - and he fitted my daughter with an Ortho-tain and consults with an orthodontist - Dr. Meyer, great also.
My daughter's teeth are looking great and she is so happy that she could avoid braces!
My child goes to Hart and Wells. Located off Six Forks Rd. ####-###-####. He has done a good job and we feel comfortable with this orthodontist.
If they will work with your payments(check prices), you feel comfortable with them, they seem knowledgeable, then go with that orthodontist.
My child liked and had great success with Dr. Kent on Six Forks Road. He's right across the street from the library.
My son uses Dr. David Gilbert. We use his office in Durham, but I know he has one in Raleigh as well. I do not know where it is though. His staff is very friendly and he is great with the kids. I have seen patients from about 7 to about 70 there.

My (now) 16 year old daughter and 9 year old son and I have all been to Chauncy Nelson in Raleigh. He's in Twin Forks office park ###-###-####. Our dentist said our son's mouth was too crowded about 3 yrs ago and referred us to him but Dr. Nelson said he would just give him a consultation each year for a few years. Said there was no sense in pulling baby teeth and giving him an appliance when everything would move around again when his adult teeth started coming in. Some of his staff have been with him for years and they are so patient (as when my son gave them a hard time because of the taste of the molding compound to make an impression). If you see him, tell him the Gorski family referred you.
We go to Dr. Engstrom. He is on Falls of the Neuse across from Ravenscroft. He and his office staff are just great. I think the shortest employment time for one of his staff is about 10 years - shows what a great place it is.
