Don't have ideas on party but for a gift they have the Leap Frog word whammer I think it is called. It helps them create 3 letter words. It goes on the refrigerator or anywhere a magnet can go.

Buzz Lightyear would be a great theme!! See if you can get a huge Refridgerator box (ask at a store that sells them) and make a rocket ship! How cool!! Home is always great and like you said there is so many things you can do with Buzz.

I have also had parties at a local park. Call your local Parks department and ask if you need a permit. But find a park close to a play area and it is so much fun. If you can afford a pavillion that helps.

What else does your little guy like? We had a Spongebob party for my 2 kids who were 7 and 10 (girl and boy) and we are planning a Spongebob party for my almost 2 year old nephew. Spongebob seems to span a lot of ages. There are great ideas on www.nick.com and www.nickjr.com and if your guy is more into Disney check out their website for party ideas too. Usually those websites have free printables.

Here is a great website where not only can you get a ton of different themes but you can look through how other moms did the parties http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/

If you do the Buzz Lightyear theme, see if you can find the freeze dried icecream like the astronauts eat in space. See if you can get them at Amazon.com. I've seen them at the gift shops at Kennedy Space Center and at Misson Space at Epcot. I remember reading an article to my son about the astronauts at Thanksgiving and it told about their freeze dried holiday meal. He's 3 and he was fascinated.

Hi M.. Some of the other moms have great ideas. I just wanted to add that we have been to MOSI for two different boy parties, and it was a lot of fun. Both times it was during the time when they had a dinosaur exhibit going on, but I imagine you could ask them about a space theme.

The staff were great. They guide the kids through a couple of activities and then they are free to play in the museum.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

M., For Trent's 4th birthday we went to the Aquarium in Tampa. The aquarium provided the cake, drinks and goody bags. Plus all attendees get admittance into the aquarium and they have a cool play area.

We just went to a wonderful park of University Pkwy. called Longwood Park. They have pavilions to rent for free (call Parks and Rec to reserve). They have 2 playgrounds - one looks like a castle and is shaded, this is more for older kids. Also had spinning cups and creatures to climb onto near the younger (ages 3-6 playground), plus sand, so bring sand toys. You can decorate with simple tablecloths and just do cake and chips.

We went to Dinosaur World last August for a five year olds Birthday party and it was really nice. She went to Publix and had a cake made with a dinosaur coming out of a mountain. They had a fossil dig for the kids. They got to go around the park. She had finger foods. Also gift bags were handed out with some candy and a dinosaur in it. They were purchased at the dollar store. Also the large jelly beans were used as dinosaur eggs in the gift bags. A good time was had by all. I know she said you can get a group rate.

I am not sure where you live but my friend had a small circus for her four year olds Birthday. She even got a man that does pony rides to come out. She made a fish pond and a game where you throw the ball to knock down bowling pins. She said she got everything from the dollar store. Even plates, cups and napkins with circus animals on them. It was a great party and everyone had a super great time.

My brother is in his forties and he still remembers and talks about his fourth Birthday party. Mom did a cook out. She put up tents in the yard and we played games like capture the flag, tag, etc... We got to play in the tents. And she also put out a couple wading pools for us to play in. Actually he did the same thing for his sons fourth Birthday party. His son said that he wishes his son was born in a warmer month so he could follow tradition but he is planning on having a party in the summer for him.

Hope these ideas help some. Also a craft party is always lots of fun for any child of any age. I always made cut out cookies and put out frosting and candies for the kids to decorate.
