Hello ladies...I am asking anyones adivice on giving bridal shower ideas. I have given showers before and have had my own, but frankly I am getting bored with the traditional games. I am seeking adivice from any party goes. My sister is pregnant with her first and is really into scrapbooking, I was wondering if there's anyway to incorporate that into the party instead of doing the taste and guess the babyfood etc. I want it to be fun and something that everyone will enjoy.
Thank you in advance.

Bridal shower or baby shower? You mentioned that your sister is pregnant so I am going to assume it is a baby shower. For my sister we took pictures of all the guests as they walked in, and had them fill out a tag to be placed in the scrapbook by their picture. They can write wishes for the baby, or advise for Mom on the tag. I had all the pages ready and decorated, so after the shower I got the pictures developed, and then glued the pictures and tags in and gave it to her.
Another idea I have heard of but not used was to send all the guests a sheet of scrapbook paper and some small embellishments, and asked them to assemble a scrapbook page for the Mom-to-be.
Hope these suggestions help, and have fun at the shower!

we always do the musturd in a napkin folded like a diaper, every one gets one when they walk thru the door, the one who gets the one with mustard wins. then the mommy can keep it and put it in there scrapbook. you can buy a
small fake tree, put clothespins on it and have everyone put what they can afford on it and give it to mommy at the end of the shower. give everyone a cheap camera from walmarts [like 5 to 7 dollars], have them take pictures at the shower and give the cameras to mommy to develope. neat to see all the pictures...

Maybe have the guests bring something like pictures of their gift or something to remember from before baby that she could put in a scrapbook.

One idea that I did for my neice was I bought plain baby bibs and t-shirt paint at Hobby Lobby and each guest got to create there own baby bibs. Some did Holiday themes some did "Personal Sayings" such as "I love my Aunt" etc..... Everyone enjoyed sitting around the dining room table creating the bibs. Some were very creative, some of us "less creative" made some basic ones. Even the Mom to Be was able to make her baby it's first Bib. I also had glitter glue and other things they could use. Obviously all the bibs were given to the Mom to be. You could even buy the Dad to be a bib to create as well. It's not a silly game but a time to just sit around and create and socialize. What ever you do I hope you have a great time. Hope this helps---J. C

Ask to borrow some of her scrapbooking supplies, i.e. scissors. Then buy some scrapbooking paper and glue, ect. Set up tables (card tables for example) in your house and have each person decorate a scrapbook page for the mother-to-be. They can then sign the page so she will always remember who was at her shower.

same question, baby shower or bridal?

Bridal: you can give her a bridal scrapbook and have people make pages ready for pictures. They could also bring scrapbooking supplies (stickers, etc) as part of their gift.

Baby: This was done for me. My friend made a gorgeous cloth cover for the baby scrapbook and most people made pages. She also has 2 pages with little notes from everyone who attended, advice or congratulations. It looks a bit like a quilt.

Good luck.

Hi J.,

I am not a fan of games myself but I did want to suggest another idea. I have a cupcake business that I think would help make your party more unique and fun. Check out my site www.crumbscustomcupcakes.com. Thanks. K.

I recently heard of a new twist on a baby shower. Anyone who brought a dozen diapers had their name put in a hat and there was a drawing for a door prize. Also there was an artist invited who painted "stained glass" design on the mom-to-be's belly, incorporating some of her interests and painted tattoos on the arm as well as any guests who wanted it. Of course this was in California. Don't know how that would go in your circle.
How about having the guests design a page or two around the shower for her scrapbook?
Good Luck

You could get a bunch of scrapbooking supplies together or go to one of the large stores (sometimes you can have a scraping party there or there are home consultants that can come to you and host the party). Have everyone make a page or two for mom-to-be and then at the end put it all in a nice album as a gift to her! She will have fun making pages with her friends. You could help out by setting up stations with different supplies geared toward: birth, first steps, first words, first bday, etc.. that way she'll have her first year of baby's important milestones already done!
Making it into a game could be fun also: Have a contest for the most creative or silliest or sentimental and vote on the winners. You could award them a mini scrapbook.

The cake could even look like a baby scrapbook...My mom and I make cakes and I can even see it in my head, it would be really cute!
I have had a lot of success and rave reviews with dessert only parties. It's so easy to throw together and makes for a beautiful presentation.

One thing I find to be really helpful when I've thrown showers is to have everyone fill out the envelope that goes with the thank you notes she'll be sending out (I always purchase thank you notes as a gift to the mom). I just put the envelopes out on a table by the front door and have them stop when they first come in and fill it out with their address and then put it in a basket. Once everyone has arrived I pull one out of the basket for the first door prize. I also print off return address labels for the new mom. It makes her job of sending out thank you's so much easier! She has enough to get ready for as it is!

I've got a million more ideas but I don't want the post to be too long. Feel free to contact me if you need more help. Good luck!

When we did my cousins, she was moving away to the other side of the country the day after the wedding so we wanted something really unique for her to keep.

We did a two-fold thing: First, with the invitations, we sent out stationary and asked each guest to share some of their favorite recipes that the bride liked so she would have a "family and friends" recipe book. During the shower, everyone shared the story behind why they chose the recipe they did.

Second, at the shower, we had more of the same stationary and asked each guest to write down some marital advice they wished they'd had. We got some hilarious and some very touching answers like "never take marital advice from a single friend" it was a fun way to share and really get people to open up. Some of the women had been married 40 or 50 years so they were more than happy to share. We put everything in a beautiful treasure box for her to take along on her journey.

Hope this helps!

You can throw her a scrapbooking party. I knew someone that did that. Everyone got to design a pages for the book. And they did it at a scrapbook store in Independence, MO. She look it. I hope this work.

You should do a scrapbook baby shower--I know that Creative Memories Consultants do those. I am not one, but I know a lot of people who are if you need a referral.

My daughter in law had a baby shower a couple weeks ago and we each did a page for the baby's scrapbook and then wrote a note to the baby and signed it. At first I was a little hesitant, but then when I saw how sweet all those pages looked, I was hooked. You could do pretty much the same thing with a bridal theme. Just make sure you have tons of supplies on hand and plenty of patience for non scrapbooking participants.

Is it a Bridal shower or a Baby Shower. for a bridal shower you can go to adult novelty stores and find fun games there. Or just do lunch and have a frame that people can write there comments on for the couple. If it is a baby shower you could do the candy bars in diapers, melt them and people guess what it is. Hilarious to hear peoples reactions. with the scrapbooking thing. I would put camera's out for people to take random pictures. if someone has a digital camera and a dock that you can print pictures from. You can have it around and people can take pictures and print them and then you can make a book of the party that everyone can make their own page and dedicate it to the family and baby. Hope those ideas help.
Have Fun.
