This is incredibly annoying and embaressing, but I have looked through this site and feel comfortable talking to other moms! I am 27 and have had HORRIBLE breast acne since about 13. Not the simple little break out kind, more like the deep pus filled kind and other kinds, its just so gross and weird.... I now have bad scars, I have tried everything over the years, I have tried hormones and creams washes changing detergent, materials, tanning.... I give up. I have been afraid or more like ashamed to go to the dermatologist, but I am going soon. I just wondered if anyone else has had this and what the heck it is?
Sorry this is so gross, I am so embaressed and hate it, your advice is appreciated....

So What Happened?

Thank you so much ladies, all of you! I went to a dermatologist, and as some of you said I wasnt sorry! He put me on doxycycline orally and benzaclin topically. I appreciate all of your encouragement and advice!

It sounds to me like cystic acne, which is much more common than what you'd think.

I've not had them there (except between the breasts when I started chemo) and abruptly had to stop nursing my daughter - of course, I thought it was a cancerous lesion and freaked out.

It sounds like you have cystic acne. Usually very deep, painful, puss-filled acne that are much harder to treat.

Don't be embarrassed to see a dermatologist. Cystic acne almost always requires an antibiotic (either topical or oral) to address the cause of the acne, infection.

I'm having a hard time finding a good, reputable site about cystic acne vs. acne vulgaris (common acne which is more easily treated). Here's some decent information. Definitely call your doctor. Believe me......they've seen everything, and many are much worse and more embarrassing than this:

Have you tried a dietary adjustment? I mean 13 year olds are the age when bad eating habits and acne 'settle in'. There's the common phrase "you are what you eat". Think and see if maybe that could apply here.

Another option is if you know someone who sells Arbonne products. If you do,or can find someone online that does, I suggest purchasing the SeaSource product. Good for skin issues like acne or bites. I highly recommend it. But get some good eating habits too. Because the dermatologist is going to recommend some type of pills to take. That doesn't get to the root of the problem and can unbalance things. If you go that route be sure to get some probiotics in you to keep a little balance.

Please, please, please try pericarp oil. I will send you info on it if you wish. My e-mail is ____@____.com. 100% toxic free. I think you will be amazed and I am so glad I was turned onto this stuff BEFORE steroidal creams...it works for so many. Sincerely, M. Shea

I would seriously cut down on the amount of dairy products you use, if not completely. Dairy is tied strongly to acne in general. There are so many great soy, rice and almond milks available at your local grocery store, as well as cheeses (that melt - see veggie slices/shreds in the health part of the produce section), sour creams and cream cheese too (though these are usually at a health food store)! I'm pretty sensitive to dairy (we're vegan now), just one time "cheating" and I'll get a small breakout.

People can get acne in many places on their skin, so its not too weird to have it on the breast, just not really common. Hope this is helpful!

Best wishes!

HI S.,

All kinds of acne is systemic. It sounds like you've tried a lot of things with no success. The key component to good skin is good nutrition. That means no processed foods or fast foods. There are simply too many synthetic chemicals that break down your body's immune system. All the toxins are literally coming through the pores. Even if this isn't your eating style anymore what many people don't know is that chemicals don't really leave the body unless forced. They are still there contraindicating with every other chemical you come in contact with.

Detoxing your home would help too. You changed laundry detergent but that only helps if 1) it's a non toxic (not just hypoallergenic) cleaner and 2) that you've detoxed the washer (removed the residues from older detergents). If you're interested I can walk you through what I did.

A fiber product to clean your system and an absorbable multivitamin/mineral complex that gives you the nutrition that you really need is vital for clear skin. I also take a supplement that is primarily for heart health but I've found it has restored the elasticity to my dermis and I look years younger.

If you'd like to talk I'd be happy to help. God bless,

M.
