Boys 2Yr Birthday Party

My son will be turning 2 next month and I'm starting to plan his birthday party. Do you have any suggestions on a Disney Pixar Cars theme party. I went onto Ebay searching party favors but the shipping cost alone is not worth it. Also interested in any cakes with this theme as well.

What can I do next?

My son had a Cars birthday about 1 year ago. I got most of his stuff at Wal-Mart and Target. I found that at Card and Party Factory they had different stuff, like some games and stuff. I only bought at the party store what I couldn't find at Wal-Mart and Target. I also buy like extra plates, forks, cups and stuff at Dollar Tree. I thinks it's a little cheaper to buy a couple of packages of the plates and napkins that match the party and then buy solid color plates, napkins, and cups that match. It saves a little bit. I got his cake at Albertson's because everyone else was out of the kit, so I would call ahead and see if they have it. Wal-Mart also has the cupcake cakes that are pretty neat for kids birthdays. If you have any other questions, I would be happy to help. I love to plan parties and stuff. Just shoot me an email (____@____.com).

Yes, Wal-Mart has the Cars theme but if you have a Sam's card and need a pretty good size cake or just want cupcakes you will get a better deal at Sam's. I got my daughter a Hannah Montana 10 inch round cake for $12.97 and a free candle. 24 cupcakes were $13.00. Check the dollar tree and everything is just a dollar for goodies.. I always see Disney Princess stuff in there so they may have some Cars stuff you can use.. Also check the $1.00 aisle at Target. I agree with the other mom about corrdinating the colors. Buy a few Cars decorations and then just get solid color big plates and maybe Cars small dessert plates. You will save tons.

Have you tried Party City? If I don't find what I'm looking for at Wal-Mart, I usually find it at Party City.

ok, i used to work at clubhouse for kids only hosting bday parties. some of the parents went all out but it was for show with for the parents b/c the kids were too young to notice. my suggestion. do themed plates or cups but everything else solid to match. its cheaper and the kids wont notice as long as one thing is cars themed. there is a place on harwood and hurstview in hurst. its called texas star bakery. they have so many choices for cakes, lots of themes. i've used them in the past and they are so awesome. in fact they'll do anything you ask them to. my husband is in the corps and they drew an eagle globe and anchor on it with the flag of the country he was deploying to. pretty cool. clubhouse for kids used to use them as well. you can go to their website and see some of the cakes they do. www.texasstarbaker.com
try party city for your paper goods. good luck.

I used www.birthdayinabox.com for my 2 year old's Wiggles party. Very inexpensive and they have theme party boxed. Here's the link for the cars page.

How about just cars in general...getting the Cars theme paperware. I did this for my son at his 4th bday, but we had Hotwheels paperware instead. My husband built ramp type trap (nothing fancy) using the cheap hotwheel track pieces that you can buy single at Toys R Us. Place a bucket of cars on the floor for the kids to use...they can race if the track is designed with 2 next to eachother. Also, you print up some Cars (or Hotwheels) coloring pages from online, for a coloring/craft table. You could do a reading time, with one book (age appropriate of course) about cars. At the end, you could had out Hotwheels (Cars theme cars are more expensive) as the 'party bag'... I think Sam's club has Cars themed cakes, but if not, they (or Costco) have car cakes. One more game that might be fun is to create a 'pin the tire on the car poster out of poster board and markers...the younger kids do not need a blindfold but older kids would. Also, color some of the coloring pages yourself with solid basic colors, and place them about 10 feet apart around the room. Have the kids all go to the color you say...my 2 yr old likes this as a game. You can get some songs off itunes.com by using the search word 'car' to burn a cd especially for the party...the songs are $.99 each. Hope this helps!

I had a Cars party for my son last year. The best place that I found for party favors and decorations is Oriental Trading Company. Their shipping is pretty reasonable as is their prices. After a long search for the perfect cake, I ended up at my local Wal-Mart. They have several sizes of sheet cakes as well as cupcakes that they can decorate with the Cars theme. I had also found a bounce house that I rented with all of the characters from the movie on it. It was a big hit with the kids and adults as well.

Good luck!
