I use the Avent bottles with my daughter and she does just fine. I've never had a problem with gas or the hiccups with her. Personally, I use the Sam's Club brand of formula. It's only $20 for 3 pounds of formula. I also use the Target brand diapers. They work fine for my daughter and they did for my son as well. It all depends on what you want to do and what you are comfortable with. I just wanted to let you know that I've used the store brand and my children are perfectly healthy. :-) Congratulations and good luck.

Avent bottles are great, I used them on both my children. Also for formula, I would recommend using Enfamil, especially if you are getting WIC assistance with formula.

In regards to the crib, try momtomom sales and also try craigslist.com

Hope this helps.

Just like trying differrent formulas to see what works best for you and your little one you're going to want to try different bottles, too. I personally like the Playtex and Evenflo bottles. There are different types of nipples for different types of bottles. Typically single hole for water and three holes for formula. My kids did really well and I didn't have any problems with gas or spit up. I also used the Carnation Good Start Formula with lots of success. I was scared when my first one came, too. Be confident in yourself. Your "mother's instinct" will kick in and you'll do just fine. If you have questions remember we're here for ya! Good luck and congrats! S.

I loved the advent bottles.. i have use advent with my 4 1/2 yrs old, and now my 9 month old. I did use the doc Browns, i liked them and i did not like them. I use the poweder formula, and with the doc browns, it was hard to make sure that the formula was mixed well. As for formula i am using enfamil.. The formula is really up to. If you choose one, and it does not work than talk to the ped and see what they recommend. Cux we had to switch to the enfamil gentleease.. they do have web sites for enfamil, and simalic i would sign up cuz they do send you coupons for forumla.. hope this helps

With my daughter I went through every bottle they made because she had acid reflux. I have found that the Playtex Ventair bottles are great! They helped get her acid reflux under control while letting all the air out while she ate. There are not a lot of pieces to clean either. Because these bottles were that good I used them for my son and he loved them. I work in a day care and I have a lot of complaints about the Dr. Brown bottles and the Avent bottles. As far as formula I have found over the past few years that Good Start is one of the better formulas. After you shake the bottle the bubbles go away immediatly unlike similac that gives babies gas all the time. I hope this helps. Good Luck! Oh and if you decided to use formula don't let the hospital choose it for you. Bring some of the formula you choose with bottles or ask the hospital if they carry the formula you choose. Just remember every baby is different in what they can digest!

As far as bottles go the avent is great and Dr browns is too. Now formula in my eyes depends on the baby. My three year old was VERY colicy and spit up all the time. His pediatrician suggested soy, and a girl friend suggested good start. After trying soy similac and enfamil the good start really seemed to help with the spitting up and fussyness. My son also got put on prevacid. Now my daughter is a very happy baby and I give her similac. She spits up alot and the Dr said just do soy like for your son. Now both my sisters have to younsters and there pediatrician told them that generic formula is just as good. I have check the ingrediants and they are basically are the same. At sams club or costco much better prices. Get on line to to all the websites and get free coupons, big help!!!

The peditrician at the hospital will put your baby on the formula they need to be on. I used the Dr Browns' Bottles for my triplets and they are wonderful. They cut down on the air the baby gets.

They are a "little bit" more expensive but worth it. I loved them!

I personally uses Dr. Brown bottles. My son 6 months old had a lot of gas problems and they seemed to help the best. As far as formula is concerned you have to go with what works. Sometimes you have to try 2 or 3 of them before you find one that your little with agree with. I have to uses Gentalease by Enfamil cuz my little one had a lot of gas and it worked! Good luck, hope all works out. D.

Don't be scared, you are about to embark on something so amazing being a mother! I can't even express in words how it changes a person, and how incredible it is. I breastfeed exclusively, but I loved the Medela bottles when he gets expressed milk. They do not let off any chemicals during heating or washing. I have heard that Dr. Brown's are amazing, but there are a lot of pieces to wash with those. If you end up having a boy, do NOT give him Soy milk. It is still up for debate, but there are potentially too many hormones (estrogen) in Soy milk and they can be harmful to little boys. Not sure on that, but just wanted to throw that out there. Good luck with your pregnancy! You are going to love being a mom! =)

I can not say enough WONDERFUL things about Dr. Browns bottles. I have 3 kids, one is 13, one is 10 and one is 8 months. My oldest child had colic, and terrible gas pains, I did not want to go through that again. So, when I got pregnant with the last one, I did a lot of research and decided on Dr. Browns. They do have several pieces, but they can be washed in the diswasher. And my philosophy is buy an excess of bottles, because in the event that you have a rough night, or day, or you are traveling, the last thing you want to think or worry about is "do I have clean bottles?" It's a little expensive at the front end, but I ended up going out and buying like 10 more because I got tired of washing them. Then, I bought the dishwasher containers for bottle pieces. And, I have never had a problem. Every once in a while I will double rinse the nipples if I think they need it.
But, I didn't breatfeed either, and I will tell you, my son has TRULY only spit up probably less than 10 times since he was born and he is 8 MONTHS. My middle child didn't have the gas pains or anything, but the air made him spit up a lot. I really think these bottles are a God send! They are worth the extra time, and take that from a mom who had a gassy fussy baby. It was terrible. GOOD LUCK!!

Hi there.. Definitely, without question DR BROWN bottles.. They are indeed a bit of a pain in the butt to wash, but totally worth it! The formula depends on what the baby individually can tolerate. My daughter had problems with a lot of formula's .. FINALLY we tried Similac Alimentum and it was a god send! Nothing else would agree with her, it was a nightmare. Good Luck and Congratulations (:

I agree that Sam's Club formula is great. I am using the Playtex drop-in bottles. We really liked the Dr. Brown's bottles with our first child. But, now we are reading all of the studies that question the safety of bottles that have BPA. From what I understand, 90% of baby bottles have BPA in the plastic. Thus, we switched to the Playtex drop-in bottles with our second child. They are BPA free and work great! Good luck and God Bless!

Also, we found a great used crib on craigslist for our second child!

Sams club brand!!! My daughter did GREAT on it, never spit up or anything. Personaly I like it better tham the name brand Enfimil, less bubbles. My friend who was on wic had to change her babies formula so she gave me her cans she could not use 5 little cans of infilmil I think $10-15 a piece it took almost 5 to fill up my $20 bottle!! Try it and if your baby can use it will save you TONS on money and I asked my Peditrition and she said it was the same as the name brand. I am preg and Due in July and will be using the same. You can also get your diapers there for a GREAT price, I am not fond of the name brand diapers. Good Luck and let us know what works for you and your baby!!

Congratulations, N.!

I used to work with infants in child care and used MANY different types of bottles with those little guys. I can say with assurance that the Playtex nursers (the ones that use bags) are the best at keeping air out (because you squeeze all the air out before giving them the bottle). The babies in my room who used these bottles had virtually no gas, whereas the other babies had a little to a lot a gas. Also, it's nice because you don't have sterilize the bottle each time, only the nipples. :-)

I'm not really sure about formula (I breastfed), but I'm guessing there's not really a bad formula out there. I think the best formula for your baby will be up to your baby. Maybe buy a few different kinds and try each one for a week until you find the one that your baby handles best.

We've had best luck with Nestle Good Start formula and Dr. Brown bottles. The combo worked best for our 2 boys! An important note: Take whatever formula you decide to use to the hospital with you so that you can start with it and stay with it!

Both of my babies were formula babies and they are very healthy and vibrant! Both of my children (now 2 and 4) used ENFAMIL products.
My son used the regular stuff (Enfamil Lipil with DHA) and my daughter used the Enfamil GentlEase until about 7-8 months, to reduce her gassiness and make it easier for her to digest. My cousin's children also used Enfamil products- they had to use the super expensive Nutramigen with their children for various reasons. It seems that they now make a formula for every need possible...
Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!!

We use Playtex Ventaire Bottles and love them. We seem to have had no problems with colic or gas.

I have been pumping since Mackenzie was born, but we supplement with Nestle Good Start and love it. She has always gone back and forth between the breastmilk and Good Start without a problem. Almost no spitting up at all with either. Good Start is fairly reasonable and if you sign up on their website (which is free www.verybestbaby.com) you will get a ton of coupons that cover the cost of the small containers. We use the orange can with DHA and ARA. We were using the green can for a while but decided to go back to the orange because of cost and she seemed to like the taste better.

Hope that helps
