Has anyone tried the breastflow bottles? Or can anyone tell me more about them or their experiences with them. My 3 month old does not want to use a bottle no matter what the nipple is like. I just read an ad about the breastflow bottles and wanted to see if anyone had a good experience with them. Thank you.

What can I do next?

I have a 10 mo. old that was exclusively breast-fed until 9 mo. when my milk supply started decreasing. He now gets one bottle of formula per day in addition. I was working, though, from 2mo to 4mo, and had to pump. He did fine with the playtex drop-in system, but it is important to use the latex, slow-flow nipples (the brown ones). they are the most like the breast. I have used the breast-flow bottle with him on occasion, but he really does much better with the playtex. I hope this helps! Also, it makes a difference if they are drinking breastmilk or formula from the bottle when trying to switch from breast to bottle and back. Good luck!

We tried them with our 2 month old b/c he wouldn 't take a bottle, and he really didn't like the breastflow bottles...it was like the nipple was too big for him to latch onto or something. We wound up "practicing" with him several days straight using the Dr. Browns and he finally just took to those...now he takes one every day! :)

I have 3 kids (2,4,6) each one took a different bottle
my first would only take playtex w/ the natural nipple (the brown ones) MY 2nd boy took the platex bottles but with the clear breast shape nipple - i liked the platex disposables in that you can push the air out of the bottle, and they are easier to clean, but they are messy
my girl took the evenflow - the easiest by far

My daughter is past that phase (barely) and I never tried them, but I have a good friend who has a VERY picky little boy and they tried everything and the only bottle he'll take is the breastflow. BUT...they leak. They are hard to clean and they leak. So, while she uses them frequently she hates them.
Maybe it's worth a shot to just buy one. Maybe you'll have better experience.

This was the first bottle I tried while breastfeeding my son and he loved it. We still use this bottle for daycare and he is almost 9 months old - he will not take any other type of bottle. The shape of it allows the mouth to stay in exactly the same position as breastfeeding.

My only recommendation in using it is use the stage 1 nipples. The flow will be the same speed as your breast. We tried the stage 2 with my son and he got used to the faster flow and started getting fussing while I was trying to nurse him. So I got a good taste of nipple confusion by doing this. He never did this with stage 1 nipples.

But other than that, I would definately recommend this bottle.

Hi Rachel,

I used them with my daughter. They were the only bottle she would take while I was nursing. I, like you, tried everything out there before finding Breastflow. The only problem I had was they leak a little if you do not get the top empty. Good luck and hang in there :)

I went through a similar situation when I was trying to give my son (now 4 months) a bottle. I tries many different nipples and bottles and the ones that worked the best for me is the avent bottles. Avent even worked so good for me that he would take the pacificers when I am not home. It helped alot and made the times I was away so much easiser.

I used them for my daughter who would not take a bottle until she was six months old. since they were what finally worked, I love them. Her problem always seemed to be the nipple being too long and she would choke so these bottles were perfect because they weren't like that. They were a little aggravating if you didn't get them together perfect because then the milk wouldn't flow. I suggest you try it during a feeding where your son is tired and doesn't notice you are trying a bottle.

I have used breastflow bottles since my 8mo old was born. I had almost the exact same question at the exact same age. Have you changed to stage 2 flow? Are you using exclusively formula? My daycare did something that apparently helped a lot, they took the flow regulator of the breast flow bottles out. If you have one, you know they have two parts. The hard part that goes in the middle. They just took it out. My little guy apparently wanted to hurry up the process. Try also different positions of feeding, and from different people. Hope that helps.

I had the same problem, I tried different nipples for the evenflo glass bottles I had, then tried other bottles; avent, dr. browns, and the breastflow bottle, he didn't like any of those. He finally took to the Born Free bottles. You can find them at Whole food or online. Good Luck.
