My son is student of the week this week and we're supposed to read a book to his class for 10 minutes.
Any ideas what to read to 33 1st graders that'll take about 10 minutes?
Preferably something with pictures too

Mr. Tiger Goes Wild
The Day the Crayons Quit You probably can't read the whole thing in 10 minutes, but it can be a teaser to get the kids interested in the book. I know it has been in the Scholastic book orders. My first grader loves it!

Fox is Socks (takes practice reading it out loud) and Green Eggs and Ham are classic!
The Big Wide-Mouthed Frog by Ana Martin Larrañaga is a fantastic read aloud book. Especially if you adjust the volume of your voice accordingly. :)
Mo willems- has lot not sure it will reach the 10 min mark, but we just read goldilocks and the dinosaurs and it as great.
also John Lithgow writes childrens books, one of my altime favorite read alouds is The runaway Pancake. my mil gave it to kids as a gift it was a book and Cd set. they loved it. it's repetitive but funny, and lots of room to do cool voices.
I would see what your son wants. One of his favorites. Otherwise, Scrambled States of America by Laurie Keller is a fun read a loud.
Anything by Robert Munsch. My personal favourites are "Good Families Don't" and "I Have to Go!". I have never met a first grader who doesn't love Munsch.
Weekend with Wendell or Lily's Purple Plastic Purse, both by Kevin Henkes.

If you want to have fun - Fox in socks. Be prepared to make mistakes and laugh out loud with the kids - but it helps kids to see that even adults make mistakes when they read.

Many of the Jan Brecht illustrated books are good (Trouble with trolls, the mitten, etc.)
It's been a really long time so I don't remember any more - but a good idea for reading out loud are books for the following year reader level - to pique their interest. So google 2nd grade books and see what comes up.
Library Lion (beautiful pictures, great story about friendship and loyalty)
Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Book (very fun story about a little boy who wakes up inside a fairy tale book)
