Hi moms!
I am looking for ideas for a party for my son turning one in August! I was thinking about doing it outdoors, but wasn't really sure on that just yet. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

My son will be turning 1 in September, and we are also having an outdoor party. I've decided to do an activity with the kids (we'll have a good mix of children from baby through 7 years old). I purchased white t-shirts for the kids in all sizes from a website (cost was about $1.70 per shirt) and will let the kids use fabric markers / crayons to decorate their own shirts. I'm also going to have them all put their handprints on the shirt, and I'll do the same for the 1 year old. Great project for OUTSIDE.

I just had my son's first birthday party this past weekend and as much as we want to make it a big event (which it is) it's best to keep it simple. They are so small yet and will get tried very soon. I had a BBQ and had kiddie pools out in the yard and with this alone all the kids had a blast. I did play the basic games like pin the tail on the donkey and had a pinata, which all kids look forward to. But most of all make sure you enjoy this special that day with him!!

Hi E.! I have 3 boys - a 5yr old, a 2 and half yr old and my littlest is turning 1 in july. We are doing a Farm party for him this year - which is a really great idea if you are having an outdoor party. I made really cute invitations with a big barn on the front and found cute farm animal stickers at the dollar section at target....i wrote a really cute poem - let me know if you are interested - I have lots of ideas and such....
Or when my middle son turned one we did a bumble bee party - "HapBee Birthday" and just decorated everything in yellow and black - it was actually realy cute and different from everyone who has the same old theme parties with elmo or whatever they offer these days.....

My daughter is turning one at the end of July and we are doing a Luau theme, Oriental Trading has tons of great decor and for party gifts, they had Luau rubber duckies, I think a dozen was about $7. I bought a some decorations and party favors for kids for under $50.

Since his b-day is in August, you can also do the Summer Olympic's theme too!

My friend did a Sesame Street theme. I loved the invitation it had a Sesame Street border and at the bottom it said brought to you by the letter K and the number 1. Just like they do on the show! You can get all sorts of Sesame Street stuff, including hand towels for your powder room, and mom, dad and Kevin wore Sesame Street tshirts! It was very cute, it is more for the rest of the uests than the baby, but it is great to throw a real cool party!

We had our daughter's at park in Carol Stream - there was a sand box and things for the children to climb on. Best of all it had a shelter in case of rain. Which it did at the end of the party. I was sooooo hot!

Our son whose birthday is in Sept. we had it in our backyard. Ordered browns chicken, had a puppet show and a friend signed to a song especially for him, because he was/is a gift from heaven.

Take care
J.

Water or spray parks can be fun if you have one in your area. Park districts tend to have cheap ones. Our spray park in Mundelein is only $1 entry and it's great for one-year-olds!

I would keep it simple. As we all know the first birthday party is more for the adults than the baby.
We had our sons first party we had a cookout and a small round cake. (End of July b-day) He loved tigger so we had tigger bouncing on the cake. When we took a picture of him with his cake he put his hand right in the middle. It was so funny we all laughed so hard.
