Hello! I am on cryselle birth control pills and have been since I had my daughter. My husband is getting fixed but not until next month. Anyways, even though I've been on BC I make my husband pull out when we have sex just because I want to be cautious. But, last night he did not pull out and I was on my last sugar pill so does that mean I can get pregnant? Or am I safe?

What can I do next?

I never made my husband pull out or anything when I was on birth control, no matter what pill it was. As long as you take it like directed, you should be pretty safe. No birth control method is 100%, though, so if you're worried, make him wear a condom.

Seriously? If you are that worried, have your husband wear a condom - I don't know too many guys who would be okay and put up with being made to pull out all the time. That's not being cautious, that's being paranoid. The pill is 99.9% effective at preventing pregnancy when taken correctly, regardless of when in the cycle you are taking it. And condoms are more effective at preventing pregnancy than withdrawal.

You ought to be safe, assuming you have taken all your pills everyday.

The "sugar pill" in the bc pills is because they only use the hormones on certain parts of the cycle.... some pill prescriptions would just give you the weeks you needed the real thing, but some people don't like having to remember what day to start taking the pills again, so most of them now give you a pill every day, although some of them don't contain the hormone.

If you are taking the regular pills properly, your chances of becoming pregnant with that episode is pretty slim, although very few methods (other than abstinence) are 100% effective.....

oh sweetie, if everyone who had sex (and didn't pull out) while on their sugar pills got pregnant, you know how many people that would be? these pills have like a (i'm sure the other ladies know better than i do) 99.9% accuracy or something. that wouldn't happen if the sugar pills stopped you from being protected.

no way. i'm sure you're fine.
