Best Way Mop & Cleanser to Wash Wood & Laminate Floors W/ Crawling Baby
Happy Holidays everyone!
My daughter just started crawling and now I am noticing dust bunnies every day! I have mostly wood floors throughout and laminate in my kitchen. I don't like sponge mops because it seems like they don't rinse clean after washing. I'm also concerned about what cleanser to use on each type of flooring, since everything either goes in the mouth or gets licked by my baby. Does anyone have any suggestions, especially a machine washable mop and eco-baby friendly cleansers???

I recently bought a Bona brand microfiber floor scrubber which I recommend. This is a swiffer-like, long handled contraption that cleans with a reusable, velcro on-and-off dustcloth. It can be used dry or wet, with or without a cleanser, and is machine washable. I find that I am able to use it several times with just a rinse in the tub faucet between washings. It leaves my floors clean and because I use plain water, 100% chemical-free. It leaves very little water behind and the floor dries quickly after using it. It's easy to store because you don't need a mop bucket. It was a good price, serves both a dusting and mopping function and works as well now as it did six months ago when I bought it. A convenient product for a never ending chore.

I use the Method OMop, they sell it at Target or you can buy it online at www.methodproducts.com
It has natural ingredients and is completely safe around kids and pets. I have a 2 year old and I use all of their products I absolutely love the window wash and the cucumber spary. My mom and sister in-law both use them also and love them!! Give them a try you will not be disappointed, I promise you.
You can also use vinegar and water to disinfect.
** I forgot to post that the OMop has a microfiber pad that is machine washable. You can also buy extra pads, good for hardwood and laminate. They sell two different scents, if you read them you can use either scent on both types of flooring **

hello!
I used Borax when my little guy was crawling around and still use it now. I can't remember where I heard about it, but apparently it used to be very popular,it is a natural cleanser and very versatile.....I use it in the dishwasher, to wash floors, for laundry, in the bathroom!
Best!

I purchased a microfiber mop at Lowe's (buy lots of refill clothes as they are machine washable, but it is good to have extras) and I would recommend either Simply Green or Mrs Myers (you can usually find it at Trader Joe's, whole foods, etc...). It is completely safe for kids and made with natural ingredients- I purchased the line so that my kids (5 and 3) can help cleaning. It is a little pricer than the standard grocery store cleaners, but in my opinion it is worth it to know it is safe...and the stuff smells great. The entire cleaning line is the same scent so it all matches in your house...

I just watched something on either the Today show or Rachael Ray use plain old water and vinegar. They said it obviously doesn't smell the greatest but it is safe and costs pennies! And you can use it on pretty much anything.

We have a dog, a two year old and a 4 year old. We just had all our hardwoods redone and the company told us to use vinegar and water and nothing else or he would be back redoing are floors in a few years...
Hope this helps..

I had the same problem. I have 2 girls and when they were at that age I bought a floor mate. It is awesome at keeping the floor clean, not only that but it sucks up the water and dries the floor instantly. They are on the expensive side, but worth the money. Hope that helps
