Hi -- While my kids & husband are all out of town, I plan to shampoo the carpets. I was thinking of renting one, but I'm wondering where the best place to do this would be -- are they cleaned after every use? Are the rental rates reasonable? Are they easy to use? Thanks for any advice/ info!

What can I do next?

We actually just rented one about a month ago from Home Depot. My husband did all of the carpets, and he was satisfied. I think it cost about $25/day plus the cost of the carptet cleaner solution. We bought some solution from Home Depot, and then ran out so bought more from Ace because it was closer to our house. Ace rents the Rug Doctor brand, but when we tried to rent one, they didn't have any in working condition. The Home Depot one was clean when we got it, and I noticed when we returned it, they pressure washed it in a big shower area they have.

Been down this road several times. I have yet to find a shampooer that works as well as the professionals. I've given up doing it myself. I usually use Stanly Steamer, but they are all pretty much the same with pretty much the same pricing.

Hi - our neighbors introduced us to a fellow who runs his own part-time business cleaning carpets, and we ALL rave about the job he does. He lives in Carol Stream, and depending on where you live, might not go to your area.
I can honestly say that he does a fabulous job, and - in my opinion - is less expensive than renting the machine, hauling it home (they're VERY heavy), buying the cleaning chemicals, and my time!
here's his contact info - Ron's Carpet Cleaning ###-###-####
Please let me know if you need any other info on him.

I prefer to have someone else that really knows what they're doing do a job like that but I know the machines that you rent work just fine too and are pretty easy to use. Just make sure the water you put in there is REALLY HOT....that's supposed to be the key. Here's a website I found comparing the types of cleaning. Hope it helps!
