My hubby and I are on a tight budget and share all of our accounts so I can't get anything too extravagant or expensive for my husband's upcoming birthday but I want to make it special somehow. Any ideas on what I can get/make/do for him that doesn't involve a ton of money?? I've already done the coupon book thing where he can redeem coupons for massage, etc. but he never redeems them with me and thinks its kind of lame. I've also asked what he wants and he said he'd be happy with just a birthday BJ. lol. So I'll add that to the day but surely there must be something else I can give him to make him feel special! I'm just blanking though..thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

One year my husband gave me a huge jar of grape skittles (my favorite flavor). He bought a big bag and sorted out the grape. Another time he gave me a home magazine that I liked but he rolled it up and stuck reese's peanut butter cups in the middle stuffing the ends with paper so they did not fall out. He wrapped it and had me guess what it was. My husband has been very generous getting me diamonds and other jewelry that I love but those thoughtful gifts still stand out in mind even 10-15 years after he gave them to me:-)

Make him his fav dinner and dessert, watch his favorite movie and give him that gift he's already asked for. Sounds like a good bday on a budget.. .maybe get a sitter if you can afford it and go out to his favorite restaurant.

Does he have a favorite food? Dessert? Snack? Is it something you could somehow make at home?

Can you have his buddies "kidnap" him for Boy's Night Out?

Mine is fairly simple to please: a pack of brand new socks, chocolate chip cookies and uninterrupted time with his video games and he's pretty happy.

(And, you can NEVER go wrong with a Birthday BJ. Just sayin'.) :)

I think he kind of told you what he wants... add a nice bottle of wine (or whateve he likes to drink) and there you go!

Oh... a heartfelt card with a note about how much he means to you and your family is nice too!

I was JUST about to post this question but then saw yours. I did the coupon thing too and he never redeemed them! So funny. I will love to hear the ideas......

I know one birthday my hubby came home to me in some lingerie.....can't go wrong there. =)

What does he like??? My DH is Mr. Practical.......! I never know what to get him either no matter the occassion....Ok here's my example...My DH was using my thermal coffee cups for his juice.....these are my favorite and I only a few...well for Christmas I bought from BBB the plastic cups with lids/straws so he wouldn't use my mugs...He loves 'em...very inexpensive. Also bought the Ihome charging pad for all the gadget connections...and some organiziational stuff....Sorry hard for me to suggest anything since I don't know your DH's interests...think along those lines and go from there.

My husband likes filet mignon and mashed potatoes on special occasions. With pinot noir and a fun night :) You can find filet mignon on sale in a 2 pack. I have a great recipe if you are interested.

One of the best bday gifts I have given my hubby was a "day off". On his days off work he always spends it with me and the kids doing family stuff. Well, like many of us, he needs his 'me' time too! So that's what he got. An entire day to do whatever he wanted!! He went fishing with his Dad in the am and played golf with some buddies in the afternoon. Came home to his favorite dinner/dessert and favorite little people and then an evening with me after the boys went to bed. He loved it!
**I know it may sound odd that he had to be given a "day off" but that's not the case! He can/does do stuff for himself but just not very often b/c he enjoys spending time with me and the kids. That's why it was a nice gift for him ~ it gave him a guilt free day :)
