Has anyone had problems with Washington Mutal? My husband and I have recently (past 1 or 2) starting having problems with them debitting our account past midnight say on the 14th and posting it on the 15th as cleared on the 14th before our checks are deposited, and then charging us outragious overdraft fees. We check our account at midnight and nothing has cleared, but check again in the morning and 5 things will be posted for the day before. We are so fed up we are looking for a new bank? Any recomendations?

What can I do next?

CHASE Bank is awesome!!!!!!!! They are amazing and I have nothing but great things to speak of them. They caught a fraud attempt on my account for a dollar something. They caught it before I did although I would've caught it that night. CHASE has awesome fraud alerts too via cell phone and email, etc. Nothing but great things!! I'm a Chase cheerleader!

I have View Point Bank which used to be Community Credit Union and everything shows up automaticly for the most part as far as deposits go, I make a deposit and come home and check and it's there.

Good Luck.

I have had so problems like that. Don't use Bank of America they are worse than WAMU. I Deposited my Payroll check and some how the numbers at the bottom of the check got torn off. They showed the depoit in the bank then two weeks later took it back. when I called to get it worked out they could not tell me anythin, but they mailed the check back to me. I never saw the check. I did get a copy after a month a local branch. All of my bills were charged Insu. Funds Charges for that pay period. I never was reinbursed by the bank, and it was their fault. On the copy of the check you could clearly see the numbers torn off and they were not torn off. Bank of America Closed my account and never said sorry!!!! They also took the Insuff. Funds charges out of my next deposit and caused many checks to go back.

I have a small buisness account with Compass bank and they did the same thing to us and charged outlandish fees and even when we tried to cover the NSF checks said they could not stop the fees from going through eventhough I am standing there handing them money to cover NSF checks that had not been presented to the bank for payment. So do not use Compass bank it is awful too. I don't have one I think is good really. Woodhaven in Ft. Worth has been good for my girl scout troop. Try them if it is close. I use ECC credit union and have had no problems with them yet either.

I'll say! I just went into may account today and they totally messed up my whole account! I use the Credit Union of Texas, which I thought I would be safe with. I put in a deposit on last Saturday and it has still not "cleared" through my bank. I called them today and they said it wouldn't clear until the 20th! Now mind you, this is my husbands paycheck which he has put in our account forever...now they have charged me HUNDREDS of dollars in late fees, after my bill pay went through. I'll tell you what, it's on, and I'm not giving up until every cent is returned to me. UHHH, I'm sooo mad...the matress thing is really looking good right now lol!

This is common practice for all banks, as far as I know.

Now I have a pet peeve of my own. Did you all know that they no longer check personal signatures on checks? I keep wondering why they bother to have signatures on file anymore. A year and a half ago someone stole my checking account number off of my check. They printed off their own checks using my tracking number and account number. They didn't even bother to use my name or signature...just a false one they'd made up. Luckily, since I do bank online, I found the fraud right away. The bank never would have found it. They paid six checks on my account. This criminal bought two computers, went on two shopping sprees for clothing and two separate sprees for groceries before the checks hit the bank. Now, granted, the bank made up my losses and set me up with new accounts and bank cards; but the point is, this person got away with it. This person didn't have to return anything and is probably out there doing the same thing to someone else.

The bank really wasn't concerned with having to repay me for the error. They didn't even bother to investigate the information I had for where I felt the fraud had taken place. In fact, I was considered a thorn in their side for speaking out about the entire situation. And, it took a lot of time and effort on my part to get things straightened out. And after doing my own investigating I've found this is common at all banks now because everything is automated. So, you can imagine my concern anytime I write a personal check or use my bank card. Makes a person want to start hiding their money in their mattress...since interest rates are so low, LOL!

Just wanted to let you all know that it can happen to anyone and you'll have to find the fraud yourself.

We've had the same problem with Compass bank so I would NOT reccommend them. They will conveniently put through debits and checks before they let my husband's paycheck clear..even though it was deposited before we made the other purchases. And at $38 per NSF charge we end up paying tons of fees that we can't afford! We tried changing to Bank of America but when we deposited a check they wouldn't let it clear for a week until we had been with that bank for 60 days. They tried to tell us this was a new government regulated policy put in place after 9/11 but we know now that is not true. I think we're going to try Wells Fargo cause we've heard good things about them! Hope this helps!

Many Blessings!

Whatever you do stay away from Bank of America. I have found with WAMU that they do listen if you go in and talk to them about your issues. Maybe print out what you see and take it into a rep and discuss your issues. They waive fees if you state your case.

Ughhh. I think they're ALL like that. It's a hassle that comes with online banking. They did debit your account on the 14th, but it won't actually show up on your account until the next morning of the 15. I wish they'd make viewing your account "live",like "live tv" so you know EXACTLY WHEN money is coming out. Unfortunately, online banking is not time exact. We use Bank of America and they do the same thing. I have a small account with Guaranty Bank and they seem to have less bank charges than the rest of our accounts.

Ladies! I bank with Woodforest National Bank and they are awesome! I get all my deposits immediately, they are open 7 days a week, all are open until 7 or 8, if you have direct deposit like I do you get paid a day early...I am NOT talking about wednesday at midnight I am talking about Wednesday MORNING! So you have the whole day to pay bills, go shopping..what ever! I used to bank with Bank of America and they would do the same thing to me! 5 od fees b/c a deposit was made after 5pm. Yikes...

I second ViewPoint Bank. We've had a few issues here and there over the years, and they've always helped resolve it.
