Baby Shower Host Gift Ideas

I am very blessed to have friends from my old job that are getting together to throw a baby shower for my first baby... With the money issues my husband and I have been having lately, I am so grateful that they still think of me and volunteered so much for this event (we haven't worked together in a year!). I want to do something more special than a thank you card for each of them (4 women altogether) since they are doing so much for me...do any of you have any ideas or suggestions that you could share with me?

Thanks ahead of time!

What can I do next?

Since money is an issue:
1) you can get muffin mixes for under $1 -- add water and bake simple, pick up a nice basket at a dollar store and take a basket of muffins to each of them.
2) wash their cars -- clean them inside and out
3) babysit their kids (one family at a time) so Mom can get out and do something for herself
4) invite them for a pasta dinner
5) help them plant a garden--you could get some plants flower or veggie and get a garden going for them or plant one in your yard and give them some of the overflow veggies--or start seeds in March by May you will have nice plants to put outdoors.

How about a bracelet for each of them? Sam Moon in Dallas or Alliance/Keller have good options for under $10. Or another idea is a "thank you for pampering me, I'd like to pamper you gift"...of teas, bubble bath, etc...

Are they coffee drinkers? Maybe some kind of coffee themed gift that they could drink at the office - on that same vein - some kind of food gift that you could make yourself and give in a tin.
Also - plants are nice and can be inexpensive - maybe a little plant for their office.
I once got a little mini bottle of champagne with a godiva truffle which was a super cute gift but maybe not appropriate for work friends... :)

Also - EVERYONE is having after christmas sales - you could probably get them a little lotion set at Bath and Body Works or the Body Shop for $5 -10 each.

Hi AJ!

One of my favorite gifts I gave to shower hostesses was this:

I picked out cute kitchen towels from Target that would match each lady's kitchen. I then took the towels to an embroidery place and had their initials embroidered on them. It makes for pretty kitchen decor which most women love but would never spend money on themselves. I also got a matching kitchen soap from Bath and Body Works to go with it. It was not very expensive because I bought towels in a four pack and gave each woman two (only had one monogrammed), and then Bath and Body Works had some sale like 3 bottles for $15. With 4 ladies hostessing, you could buy one 4-pack of towels for around $8, give one towel to each lady, monogram with their 1st, middle and last initial (about $6/person) and get nice handsoap and come out somewhere between $10 - $15/person on the gift.

All that to say, I try to think of things that I love to have around the house but would never spend the money on for myself - i.e.- Bath and Body Works soap for the kitchen and bathroom or seasonal dish towels and candy dishes to decorate for a season.

I hope this helps! Enjoy celebrating the arrival of your little one with a baby shower!

God's Grace to you,

Lisa :)

Is there a local massage place that you can do a 15min massage for each of them (they typically charge $1 a minute)? Or the small, purse size hand lotions from Bath and Body . .. I also like the baking idea - make them something (cookies, banana nut bread, chocolate covered pretzels/nutter butters/etc). Or, if there is an IKEA store near you - a friend wrote a very special note to me and put it in a tiny frame as a reminder of our friendship. It is small (smaller than my palm), very inexpensive but a special treasure. Really, it is the thought that counts.
