B12 Injections

Has anyone heard or is on the B12 Injections? If so, I was wondering how has your success been with it? I am looking to loose about 25-30 pounds and yet at the same time, my husband and I are leaving it in Gods hands as to if we get pregnant or not. I am looking for a healthy way of loosing the weight but I need something to jump start my diet. I just don't have control on my eating right now. I don't want to go back on phentermine, and I don't want to starve myself!!! My doctor suggested doing the shots but it is SO expensive. $200 for the first visit and $65 a week, then $90 bimonthly!!!! We can't afford that!! Is there anyway of doing the shots at home? And where would I order from? Thanks in advance for your help!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Not exactly the responds I thought I was going to get. However I do thank each one on you for the great advice. I have started looking into myself to find out what is going on. Now with the IN-LAWS FROM HELL trying to force their way back in to our life I am not really sure what will happen from here. But I really do appreciate the wonderful advice

I never heard of getting B12 injections to help lose weight. But I wanted to ask you if you have considered doing Weight Watchers. I have done it, am doing it and also trying to get pregnant. WW is working for me, but I am still not getting pregnant. Also, I wouldn't mind being a "buddy" of a sort with this baby making thing. I had a hard time conceiving my son...18 months to be exact. I am afraid this one is going to take longer as that was over 6 years ago.

My husband went to a doctor that did all of this. He lost 50 pounds and has been able to keep it off. He quit simply because of the cost. They also had him on phentermine, but he wasn't very consistent with taking it. But, he still lost.

We have been on every diet out there. I try a new diet and think, "This is the one that's going to change my life!" Let me tell you, what finally has worked for me is the old fashioned way of eating healthy and exercising. I also drink a lot of water. I found that with counting everything (carbs, calories, or points) just burned me out. I have now adjusted my attitude and I try my best to eat healthy and make sure I exercise 4 times a week. Even my exercise does not require much thought. I walk 1 or 2 miles each day on my treadmill. I spent 6 years of dieting controlling my life. When I'd go off of it, I'd be depressed because I couldn't control my eating. I'd get excited about a new diet I heard about and I'd be happy and doing well. Then I'd fall of the wagon and feel depressed again. It was a continuous cycle.

I also tried phentermine. I did great, but my moods were pretty bad. It made me nervous and I found myself with no patience. I don't need that since I'm a homeschooling mom. And when I went off of it, I eventually gained it back and more. I finally decided that God is stronger than any pill out there. There are still times I'm tempted to go get a pill to make it easier. But, I have found the easier it is to lose, the easier it becomes to gain it back. At least for me that is.

So I'm eating healthy. I do kind of watch my calories. I'm not really strict on it. The doctor my husband got the shots from gave this advice. She said to take your weight and multiply it times 10. That's how many calories you need to maintain your weight. For every 10% you cut back, that's a pound a week you can lose. So if you want to lost 3 pounds a week, you cut back 30%. Of course this is all average and exercise affects it. So I try to get about 1200 calories a day. Again, it doesn't control my life. We eat out a lot and I don't know how many calories are in everything. So when we eat out, I make good choices. I try to allow 300 calories for breakfast, 300 for lunch, 300 for dinner, and the left over is for snacks. But, I know how much Special K cereal and lowfat milk makes about 300 calories. I know that a whole wheat muffin, one egg, and a piece of cheese is about 300 calories. I know I'm rambling. But what I'm trying to say is dieting does not control my life. Dr. Phil said when you go to eat, ask yourself if that's the best thing you can put into your body. I do go off of it and splurge here and there. We have friends from church that eat out every Wed. after church at McDonald's. So I usually get a chicken wrap. If I'm craving junk, I'll get a happy meal because of smaller servings. Also, drinking lots of water fills you up too. Sometimes I get hungry and want to go crazy. I can down a bottle of water and I'm content.

Anyway, I have lost 53 pounds doing this. I'm averaging about 3 pounds a week. Now there are times I've gone off my diet around holidays or vacations so I'll plateau. There was even one time that I plateaued for a month. That was frustrating. So I went completely off my diet and went a little crazy. I gained a few pounds back. When I got back on it, I started losing again.

Anyway, I hope this helps a little. Also pray daily for God to help you make good choices. I pray about it everyday. It's not just about weight for me. It's also about having energy, feeling good, taking care of this body, etc.

Christina,
The best and safest way to loose weight is by watching what you eat and exercising. I don't mean dieting, but if you eat three good meals a day and cut out snacking you'll be surprised at how much you can loose. If you can't get to the gym, go for walks in the evening. Switch to lowfat cheeses and things like that. Don't do no-fat because they usually taste bad. Switch from white bread to whole grain. If you don't like diet soft drinks try Coke Zero. I hate diet sodas but I like Coke Zero. Every little thing helps. You know what they say everything in moderation. If you get hungry have apples and nuts around the house to snack on instead of chips. There are lots of things you can do if you really want to loose weight that don't cost a thing. Good luck.

I don't know anything about the B12 injections but I'm cheap and when I want to loose weight(which I do - about 5-10 lbs over the next month)I start with what's easiest and costs nothing. Good luck!

Yes! You can do it at home. My sister goes to the doctor and get's the injections of B-6 and B-12 (at $150/wk) and does the diet. I have never gone to the doctor for the injections, instead do the diet and take B-6 and B-12 vitamins at home. We have both lost 32lbs in 8 weeks. So it is possible to do it at home and still lose weight like you are getting injections. Good luck!

I've heard they work great. You may want to look into acupuncture as well. It can really do wonders with curbing your eating compulsions. People even do that to stop smoking. It gives you energy as well. You can't do some shot or pill or random diet and have any success without giving it your full effort. The only REAL way to lose weight is by eating less and moving more. Simple as that. You have to want to do it. Change the types of things you eat or even just the amounts. Don't cut out things you love, just limit them. It only takes 21 days to break an old habit or create a new one. Whatever you do... don't go drastic, but do it consitantly for 21 days and see where you end up. Good luck, but please don't rest your hopes on some "miracle" weight loss BS.

Christina,
I have had B12 shots before and love them. I finally felt refreshed after a nights sleep I had the energy to keep up with my kids and started to lose some weight. This is not something that is going to help you lose a signifigant amout of weight like diet pills, but it will help. I know some Drs give you the syringes and meds to give yourself the shots but it does have to be Dr prescribed. On another note when I was pregnant with my last child I was a bit overweight and by the time I gave birth to her I was right at my target weight. I just kept a very sensable diet during my pregnancy. Good luck.

B vitamins are often called the "happy" vitamins because they help to improve your mood. I found a line of products that have a lot of B in them but are a healthier way to safely and naturally lose the weight you want. Without shots, or going to the doctor, and it helps to reinforce healthy eating habits for a lifetime. And when you take care of your body, eat healthier, your body just works better! Who know what may happen? Check out http://powerup.isagenix.com - you can get it at wholesale pricing too. It was an easy, fast and safe way to get off my baby weight and I know that I am healthy when we start trying for #4 next month!
