Well I took Trinity to the doc today and she did have some concerns but said it is not her area so she is sending me to another doc for testing...I was just wondering what tests your kids went through and how long it took to get answers...the doc did say at the very least she is speech delayed,so I will be trying to get her into the Early Intervention program to help with that. She did say alot of things I am concerned about are classic terrible twos but a few others she was worried about.

Also if you have been following my posts I just wanted to let you know that Necco is having surgery Fri to get tubes and remove his adnoids,so here's to hoping that will help with all his breathing problems and ear infection and sleep apnea!!

Just thought i'd keep you posted,i'll let you know how everything goes!

Goodness lady, you seem to have your plate pretty full. I will pray for you. The testing that my son went through was pretty much just observation of what his skills were. Like what troubleshooting skills he had. Could he put a raisin in a bottle and take it out. Did he know animal sounds or what they are. Simple test really, nothing evasive. So, don't worrie. I wish you the best with all you are going through!

Well, I took my daughter to a therapist and he saw her and I answered a questionaire thing and he said he believed she had mild autism. I got her into an Early Intervetion program with her elemtary school and she changed remarkably! She goes to preschool 2 days a week and recieves speech therapy there as well. Then while she was in there they did another questionaire thing but the parent does one and the teacher and they confirmed it again, that she has mild autism. So they know what to work on. If she didn't start school I don't know where she would be right now. That Early Intervention might have just saved her. So theres not really tests per-say, but you answer questionaires and people observe. It can be helped if caught early so you are doing the right thing. Getting in touch with a local school and finding out about Early Intervention programs is the best start! Good luck to you!
God Bless

Hey N., first of all I'm glad to hear that Necco is going to have his surgery!! It will help soooo much!!
Now about Destiny's testing, it is really simple! You have to fill out some paperwork with a lot of questions but the real testing is they just see if she can follow directions and how she puts things here and there and little things like that. Now when Jordyn was tested he would not go in the room with the therapist so she had me come with him and just sit there...he was in my lap to start with but then he got out and went and picked up the ball for Ms. Marta and would do almost everything she told him to. She would stack blocks and then take them down and then she would have him copy her!! He didn't talk except a word here and there but the test took about 30 minutes or so and she told me then that he needed speech therapy and that she would be the one working with him at least through the summer and after that she had him placed in Head Start where he sees a speech therapist 2 or 3 times a week!! He talks so much more now and he is even starting to try sentences!!! He still can't say some letters and he still has his fits but all in good time!! I did mine through the school system!! After you see this Dr. let me know please what she says but I think I would go through the school system!!

Not sure where you live, but the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center has several research studies that could provide a free screening or diagnosis.Visit www.kc.vanderbilt.edu/studyfinder. We also have some other fee-for-service options that can help determine whether your daughter has autism. Bottom-line, though, your decision to get help through the early intervention service is a good one.
I'm happy to answer more specific questions. My research area is autism.
