At Home Pedicure Question

Hi Ladies,

I wanted to see who uses what when giving themselves an at home pedi. I don't just want soft feet for a few weeks...I don't like paying $45 for someone to touch my feet (though it feels great) so with that said, I would really like to use something at home more often so I don't go to bed with sandpaper feet. I mean, my hubby has GOT to cringe when these suckers touch him. LOL Anyway, I just bought Burts Bee's Cranberry/Pomegranite Sugar Scrub but has anyone used anything else? Has anyone used the Burts Bees? Good? Bad? Please help...I long for those soft feet! ;)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

OH MY GOODNESS! Question: how come I never used the PedEgg before? I went out during my lunch break yesterday and stocked up on foot buffers, files, a scrub and also got the pedegg (new one with the handle and extra buffer pad - kinda looks like sand paper). Well, when I got home, I could not wait to open up my pedegg. I passed up all the other items and went straight for it. Well....HOLY CRAP, I HAVE SOFT FEET!!!! I seriously could not believe it. I have NEVER (well, maybe when I was in highschool) had soft feet like this. My husband was so shocked and sadly enough, so was my oldest daughter. She looked at her step daughter and said 'my mom has always had such bad feet, they were cracked and yucky' (gotta love kids) Well, not any more. I am even thinking about returning everything else...who needs a sugar scrub now? Not me. I can't believe this...it literally brought tears to my eyes yesterday. Thank you ALL for your advice. Much appreciated. No more cracked, dry heels for me!

I just put cream on my feet every night and wear those L. sports socks that have no tops. My feet are soft every day.

I live in AZ and we are in flip flops practically all year. For YEARS I had ugly cracked heels, is that what you are talking about? If so, I have the remedy! Get one of those Ped Eggs, use it on your heels every time you get out of the shower. Then at night while you are watching TV or something and your feet are DRY, use a regular really rough nail file (the ones used for acrylic nails) and sand your rough spots down. Then before you go to bed, just rub on any kind of moisurizing lotion, it doesn't have to be anything fancy. I have been doing this for just a couple weeks and my heels look almost normal! So if that's your problem, try that, it really works, but the key is to keep up with it and do it consistantly. Good luck!

I slather vaseline on, put on socks, and let it soak in overnight. This usually works for me!

I think the best thing you can do at home for rough feet is get those pedicure socks that you put on after lotion. It really helps soak in the lotion istead od evaporating and smearing away. Also get a pumis type stone and keep it in the shower. Use it a couple times a week or more until your L. feeties get smooth.

If you like the ped-egg, you will love a good old fashioned foot callus shaver. The blades are a wee bit dangerous, but it's a much cheaper option and gets more dead skin than the ped-egg. They can't use these anymore in salons because someone sued, but years ago they were regularly used when you got a professional pedicure. Just soak your feet a L. to soften the skin and go to town. I get much faster and better results with this as opposed to the ped-egg. Don't get me wrong... I like the ped-egg. But IMHO you just can't beat the good old fashioned callus shaver.

I also second the recommendation for the socks and a thick lotion at night when you sleep. Plain old vaseline or aquaphor will work wonders!

I use the Bath & Body Works Blue Spa foot cream with their gel lined skin softening socks and they really work. I slather the foot cream right before bed and rub it in and then immediately put on the socks. I sleep in the socks a few times a week and it really has helped my feet become much softer. Don't try to walk around in the socks and you definitely need to have them on for several hours for them to work so I sleep in mine and wake up with really soft feet. After winter my feet were so dry and even snagged on the bed sheets because they were so dry. I went out and got a pair of the socks and absolutely love them.

If you have really rough callused feet, then you should file away the rough spots. You can use a pedi egg or one of those files that looks like a giant emery board. I find it works best on clean dry feet.

You should apply lotion every night before bed to help keep them feeling soft. Any type of lotion will work. If you can sleep with socks on really lather up, or even try using vaseline.

You can also soak your feet and using a "scrub" and a pumice stone or one of those emery board type files to help get rid of the dead skin. Follow up with lotion.

I've yet to have a pedicure! It would be fun, but I do my own. I haven't used that Burts Bee's product, but I have used the coconut foot cream which you put on then put on socks (yellow ones are provided in some packages) and let it sit. I do it overnight with great results. I love the Burts Bees line, particularly the marshmallow vanishing cream. I've used other sugar scrubs to good effect in the past.

I use Mary Kay Satin Hands on my feet - it works great!! Then, for painting your toes, here is my suggestion: Find Orly brand stuff and buy their Rubberized "Bonder" and their "Sec N Dry" top coat. The combination of these with whatever color I use, makes my manicures/pedicures last MUCH longer than they usually do!

The True Blue Spa foot care line at Bath and Body Works is what I use. I bought the trial size tubes (which lasted for several applications) when they were 3/$10.00 and was hooked.

I signed up to receive emails from them so when the sales are on I'm there! Sometimes they have buy1/get 1 free deals, and the foot socks go on sale at the end of the season to make way for the next season's colors, so you can save a bundle and still have the softest feet.

I love burts bees products, they are great!! Even with the ped egg you still may need to use the scrub and of course lotion to keep them soft! I have the burts bees body butter and it actually helps to clear up my eczema, and I love their lip balm. the stuff is a L. pricey but definitely worth it!
