There are traces of a lot of nasty things in what we eat, drink and breathe. It is just since suffocation and starvation almost 100% lead to death I am willing to take the risk!

Like the arsenic in apples have been around since Adam and Eve....oh, that is why they should have avoided the apple....

I am ribbing you ya know though I don't worry about arsenic in my food.

I will still buy rice and apple juice. But, not just those, solely. I mean, if you drink too much water at one time you could die, too.

Well, Americans don't eat rice everyday like people in Asian countries do. The reports are about rice in the US. I doubt that rice they are taking about, especially long grained, is raised in Asia. So I don't think I'd be worried about it at all in the US...

It doesn’t surprise me since most foods are genetically modified and saturated with pesticides. You are what you eat you know. I wonder how all of this will affect the future generations since now we have a high amount of children with neurological disorders and they started messing with the food supply in the 60's.

It is just media hype to instill fear among those who live in fear of the unknown.

If you go swab your hands right now, you'll probably get traces of arsenic. It is around, it is natural and it has been this way for years.

It is not like you are injecting it into your system. MODERATION is key.. in everything. Just like another poster said... you can die from drinking too much water!

I don't think we comprehend the concept of "parts per million" or "parts per billion". There are all kinds of things in our food, at these extremely low levels. Our bodies just process them, like they always have.

We're way past the point of "trace" amounts of bad stuff in our food.

It's the tip of the iceberg imho.

When this next generation doesn't make it to 60 I guess we'll figure out we were doing something wrong.

Arsenic is a naturally occurring ingredient that is in everything. If it was at toxic or dangerous levels they would do something about it.

Yes, arsenic is a naturally occuring element in our soil as are numerous other trace elements. However, arsenic just like these other trace elements is poisonous if we eat too much. Because it is poisonus at higher concentrations, arsenic was used in pesticides to control, among other things, boll weavils in cotton crops of the southern U.S. So there is higher than natural concentrations of arsenic in the soil. Rice which is also grown in the southern U.S. is particularly efficient in absorbing arsenic. Is it hype? No! This particular study was put out by Consumer Reports - a nonprofit consumer advocacy group. They have nothing to gain and we should listen to their advice which is - for now anyway - don't eat rice from the Southern States. Stick with Californian or Asian rice. That's pretty easy to do.
