Anyone Know of a Great Pediatrician in NW Indiana? Preferably Female

I highly recommend Pediatric Health Associates in Highland. They have 2 pediatricians, Dr Katbi and Dr Tumacder. They are both FANTASTIC female pediatricians in Highland. Their staff is wonderful too.

As a new mom, they are really great about not making me feel stupid with so many questions. They mean it when they say "no question is a stupid question," the nurses too. When my daughter was very sick a couple months ago, they called periodically to check on my daughter's progress, which amazed me. The doctors and nurses genuinely care about the kids and what they do. I also appreciate that they have a separate 'well visit' area for the kids who are in for their regular check-ups, so they don't sit and wait with the sick kids.

I asked the same question not too long ago, and was referred by another mom out there and my lactation consultant to Dr. Nancy Pudlo. I've been taking my 4 kids to her for the last few months. She's young, which made me a bit nervous, but nonetheless, she's wonderful. The kids really like her, too. I was even more impressed that SHE called me the evening after I took my little one in. I see her as someone my kids can grow with throughout the years. SHe's located in Crown POint on 231, just East of 41 in the new complex. Good luck.

We go to Healthy Kids in St. John. It is a bit of a hike for us, but i love them. Their hours are convienant and there are 2 Peditricians although we have only seen Dr. Dershkowitz who has been great. They are male but they have a female nurse practioner Keiran(edited, that is who I meant, not RN) who we actually see more than the Dr.'s because she is just easier to see for all the little stuff.

We have never had any issues with them and they have always listened to all my concerns. One word about it though. If you are someone who wants medication for everything this is not the place. They also believe that most ear infections will go away without antibiotics and you need to wait a couple of days before they will give antibiotics for it. At first this bothered me, because i just wanted her to get better fast, however since we started doing this she has had less ear infections and most of them do not need anitbiotics, just Motrin for a few days.

I second the vote for Healthy Kids in St John. We have seen both doctors (Dr. Dershewitz and Dr. Anger) and we really like them both. We also really really like Keiran who is the Nurse Practitioner!! She is fantastic!!! The other nursing staff is good too. They are located in the Community Hospital building across the US41 from Strack & VanTil's and Target in St. John.

Our wonderful pediatrician is Dr. Mely Tan, who has an office on Ridge Rd in Munster next to the McDonalds. She is the best. Both my sons (now 8 & 7) love her. Her appointments run on-time and yet she's very, very thorough. When she doesn't know something she is ready to recommend specialists. I trust her implicitly. Good luck.
