Well, God made other plans for us & we are no moving to Tyler this month, as we planned, but we are still moving out of Keller. Building is something I'd like to consider, but haven't a clue about the process. Anybody got a great builder you'd recommend or any tips in the process?

Thanks!
D.

I have a custom home and the builder is a female. We looked at many homes and her items are unique to a builder. We live in Colleyville area, and have possibly been asked to be on the home tour. I love our home and everyone that enters cannot believe it. I would welcome a call for more information.

D. - there are so many good builders in the area, and right now the market has slowed in new construction so it's a great time to build. I would be happy to recommend some builders for you to check out. It really depends on where you are thinking about moving and how much you want to spend. Firsco is probably the best "bang for your buck" just because everything out there is new construction and the builders have A LOT of inventory.

You can email me at ____@____.com or feel free to call me and I'll help in anyway that I can ###-###-####.

Hi D..

My husband is a construction manager for a great company (they have a traditional home building company and a custom building side too) that has been building in Dallas since 1966. If you'd like the name of the company, PM me.

I have had two homes built. I have a new home now but there are problems. I did not build it but D R Horton did. I am fighting with the warranty company. Several homes in our subdivion have foundation problems. It takes little down to sign a contract and pick a lot. I however would never build again without having an engineer inspect the packing of the grade and making sure there are soil samples while they pour the cememt foundation. Different builders have different standard options. Some use granite as a standard and others do not. The appliances they put in this home are cheap. In our custom home we built in LA we upgraded our appliances and picked them out. They were great. They say a home can be rebuilt three times and they still make a profit. My neighbor had several things replaced when she moved in. They had scratched the new floors. The windows had scratches between the double panes. Make sure of your warranty over 5 years. My ex added extra warranty. In fine print it says after so many years you pay $500 to start or their abitration to negotiate. Be careful but it was the greatest thing in my life owning new homes. I always wanted one and one I did not build was so custom. It had everything I wanted in it. Formal and unique. That builder does not exist now. He got a divorce and quit. Top of the line Kitchen Aid appliances and they are top notch in fixing them. Make sure your AC is big enough and in one house the hot water went a long way to get to the kitchen and it forever getting hot water. Also double insulate the laundry area where the washer and dryer are if it is near a bedroom where children sleep. Air returns can be a sight if they are not hidden. They guide you and will tell you when you need to pick out soffets and brick and give you homes they built to look that they built. Wonderful and having all new with new warranties is fun. I love it all. I also made a mistake of having every room a little different color then when it came time for touch up it was hard to see which paint was where. Also make sure they leave you extra tile and carpet for things that happen. Tiles can break later and it is hard to match. Get a paint kit of the paint and make sure you have the formulas or colors for all the things in the house. Makes it so much easier. Model numbers and books on how to work everything. My ex made a book of all of this. Good luck now for picking out a nice lot. God Bless You G. W

Hi D.,
Monteclaire Homes is a wonderful builder. (Also a personal friend of ours...) They built our home and we have been in it happily for six years now. Extremely high quality and really good people.
