I'm thinking about taking our 9mo old son out to Harmon Tree Farms to take some Fall pictures by the pumpkins, hay bales, etc. Do you think this would be a good idea? Anyone ever been there?
I just heard about it, so advice would be helpful.
TIA!

Hi,

I am not sure where you live but there is a place in Blythewood similar to Harmon's. It is Country Adventures. Check out their website.

Kathleen and Chris Kemp own this farm and they have always been wonderful to work with. Both of my daughters went to prom in their horse and carriage, it was beautiful.

Harmon's is cute, but quite a drive from Columbia. Just went there yesterday for a field trip. I agree that a local pumpkin patch may be what you need...

I haven't been to Harmon, but after reading the previous response.... if you are looking for a smaller place, the Methodist church on Hardscrabble Road in Northeast Columbia has a Youth Group Pumpkin fundraiser each year. They have lots and lots of pumpkins... that may a good place for what you want to do. Good luck.

It usd to be a great place but the past couple years it has gotten more and mre crowded, if you can do a weekday maybe it wouldnt be so bad. They have haybales and they have mini pumpkin patches set up perfect for pictures, if they did well this year they also have the sunflowers. I also like pics on some of the things around the barn such as the old fashioned style quarter ride horse is cute in B&W. Plus the petting farmI have a TON of pics from there from over the years and they are great

BUT like I said they have gotten pretty crowded in recent years so being able to spend the time to get a good pic or even to get a good place and pic in peace is pretty hard. Plus the mini pumpkin patches with little pumpkins and corn, etc is out along the hayride so have to go on the hayride and I may be cheap but $7 a person for a hayride is pretty steep IMHO.

You may have just as much luck at a roadside pumpkin patch.
