Any Handmade Gift Ideas for Guys?

I say, if you know how to knit, then handknit hats can't be beat. I think most men would appreciate that (at least, I hope because I am doing lots of them!)

Do you sew too? lounge pants are really fast and easy to make. My husband LOVES when I make him new ones!

duct tape wallet? my sons made these for their dad in school and they were a big hit.

If you knit or crochet, what about some warm hunting and ice fishing socks? My husband wears things like that when he goes out hunting and ice fishing. These men will definitely use them.

Have you seen those fleece blankets that tie at the edges?? I have heard they are extremely easy and only take an hour or so to make. All you need to do is buy the fleece for each side, cut the edges and tie around the edges...(I am sure you can find instructions on the web). As far as I know, there is no sewing involved. I am sure they have "manly" fleece like camo, etc..the ones I have seen usually have a solid color on one side and a pattern on the other. They wash in the washer with no problem.

How about sleep pants for the guys? These were popular to make when I took a sewing class and pants are easy to make. Or boxers? Also, easy to make.

I'm not a good "handmaking" person at all. I just wanted to share that I went to Dollar Tree last night, and I was really impressed with the variety and quality of goods they have there for only $1!! I was looking around and making up things I might do. (I have outdoorsmen in my family and I'm thinking about making a "Metro-Hunter" gift bag and spend $5 on Men's Shampoo, Shaving Cream, Men's body spray, Toothpaste and Deoderant!)

My apologies that this is not a handmade idea... I guess I just know if I wanted to do something handmade and it was Dec. 18th... I would never be done in time :-)

Why don't you try browsing www.etsy.com? It's a website that buys and sells all things handmade. You don't necessarily have to buy anything, but you may be able to jog your creative mind by looking at the site...

What about pajama bottoms. Flannel??? OR I know you said NO food but one year my husband got about 8 different 'rubs' (spices) to use for when he cooked on the grill and that was a great and fun gift to get. good luck!

I checked out some book from the library that had a some mens kintwear. I'm trying to remember the name the b word is in it, and I think it was a 2nd ed. Any way one was a color block scarf that when rolled up looked like sushi! Another was a zip up hoody w/ a skull on it. And some crazy dice soxs.

I get free emails from some free websites about knitting and crocheting and recently I saw a pattern for finger warmers, or something like that. What I would do is search for free patterns to knit/crochet and search for flip mittens or something like that and eventually you should find a pattern you could do. It was really a cool idea and handmade items usually last longer than store-bought things.

Perhaps you might see some other idea that you
like even better than what I suggested. When I did the search for free patterns I found several websites and found tons of free patterns to print off for my own use for free; all it costs is your ink and time.

My only answer to this is FOOD. lol

The only thing my hunter husband has ever wanted me to make/sew for him was a new cushion for his tree stand. He already had the foam piece, and I just took the camo material and made an envelope to go around it. I wanted to be able to take it off and wash it.

If your husband has a tree stand you could “upgrade” his current seat. Add pockets for warmers etc… Just an idea since I know my guy is WAY TOO picky for just about EVERYTHING that I can make. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Can you make them a nice hat, scarf, or vest with the type of material that you have. I don't know too much about those sports, but I'm sure anything that'll keep them warm in the process would be a great gift. Just think, it's the thought that counts. In these economic times, people are really seeing that now more than ever.

I have an idea but came up with it too late to use it for this year, maybe its too late for you too but thought I would mention it anyway.

I have 5 sons and around the beginning of Dec I decided to make them jean quilts. Maybe with flannel on the opposite side.

Maybe instead of jeans you could use the camo material as squares? I am going to start mine the first of January so I can give them next Christmas. Hope this was helpful.

Do they have laptop computers? If so, you can cover a square or rectangle piece of wood with felt so they can use it as a mini table and can place the computer on their legs and surf the net or work while they're in front of the tv. You can also cover heavy cardboard with faux leather and make small "change stations" so that when they get home from work, they have a nice place to empty their pockets.
