So What Happened?

Thank You for all the advice and encouragement. I want you to know today was a much better day. We cried last week and now we are on to the work that needs to be done. She will be treated further at Ann Arbor even though it is a ways for us. She has another surgery comming up on 5/20 and then we will see after that. She is very positive today. We will continue to be positive and know that God is in control. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. Thank you again every one!!!! M.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, my best friend was there for me. The thing that she did that I appreciated the most was treat me like she always had. We talked about regular stuff, not always cancer, cancer, cancer. I got tired of talking to people about it. It was nice to have someone who didn't view me as "different" just because I had cancer. Meals for the family when she's undergoing treatment and doesn't feel like eating, let alone cooking are a big help too. A gift card for her favorite "carry out" place is also good. That way she doesn't have to get dressed and go somewhere for dinner if she doesn't feel up to it.

Hi M.. We just found out my sister has it too. We serve a great BIG God and He has the final say so on any cancer. I have peace about it, because I know He is in charge. That is the best advise I can give you, pray and trust Him. He loves your friend, pray with her and comfort her, and stay in the word. God bless, I will keep you both in my prayers. C.

My grandmother had melanoma and survived. She was in her late 60's at the time. The only thing I know for sure is that she is very healthy - a lot of fruits, vegetables, etc. She also keeps a very healthy mind set. I think all of these factors make a difference. I can definitely symapathize as I am 28 with a one year old. Also my best friend, my sister, was diagnosed with liver cancer at 29 and she too had two small children. She had a 7% chance of survival. Needless to say she is 35 today and is proof that prayer works!!!

Melanoma is a very bad diagnosis.. I wish her the best. She shoudl go to UofM or Karmanos and see what treatment options that they have available.
Maybe ther is a clinical trial that she can get in on.

That is so so so sad. It seems unusual someone so young. Did she tan alot? My grandfather was dx'd with stage 4 melanoma ca and was given only 6 months to live. That was 4 months ago and it seems he is getting weaker. His cancer has spread into his bones though, so it's probably alot worse. His oncologist gives him weekly injections of a bone stregthener to help, but they said there is nothing they can do to prolong his life or stop the ca.

I will pray for this young mom and her 2 children. All you can do is be there for her and listen to her.

I am so sorry to hear about your best friend. I will pray that she gets better. I don't have any advice other than I was driving yesterday and heard an advertisement for a new cancer treatment developed by Beaumont Hospitals. I'm sorry, but I forgot the name of the treatment. Maybe you can give Beaumont a call and get some information. The more knowledge you have, the more helpful you can be.

Best Wishes,

MC

Yes M.! I have a friend who has survived it! He had the worst possible scenario and he is now well.
As far as helping her, I would say praying for her is the greatest thing you can do. Also, you said that you were scared. I'm sure she is too and you can help her by hearing out all of her fears. YOu are a WONDERFUL friend! I will pray for her and her family!
