Amby Baby Hammock

I am pregnant and due in August. In researching baby products I have come across the Amby Baby Hammock. I was wondering if anyone has used this or heard of it. Also wondering if it is worth the expense. As of right now we live in a two bedroom apartment and have a son that will be 4 by the time the baby is born. I plan to breast feed so I expect the baby to sleep in our room. We don't have room for a full crib at this point, so the baby would probably be in a bassinet or moses basket (if we don't go with the amby). Any comments or reviews of the Amby Hammock would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

*** If I did purchase the Amby, I plan to try and get it from Ebay so as not to pay full cost.***

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your responses. We have limited space in our apartment so the co-sleeper would be out. I have been watching the ebay auctions and the prices are still very out of our budget. I've been trying to research other hammocks(besides the Amby)and their designs. I think I am going to try to make my own. Thank you all again for your help.

I must admit, I'm intrigued. My son suffered from reflux, so this bed might have helped. However, given the price of the unit, and the relatively short life of its usefulness, it does not appear to be a sound investment. Chances are, you'll be buying a new baby bed inside of six months, because the baby will be able to move around enough to pose a falling hazard. If you don't mind having to purchase a new bed at that time, then it could be a great idea, though.

We used the Amby and really liked it. I did purchase it on Ebay so the cost was somewhat reduced. Plus, I plan on (God permitting) using it for future children and/or letting relatives borrow it. My little one slept very well in it for the first four months of his life and then we transitioned him to his crib. Good luck!

I just looked at the Amby baby hammock online and it looks like a very complicated version of the hammocks that my in-laws use for their babies in Ecuador. There they use a blanket or sheet folded and tied at each end with rope. Then they hang the whole thing, i.e. from the parents' bedposts diagonally above the bed or from the sibling's upper bunk hanging over the lower bunk. I think you could do a lovely improvised version like this for cheap to free.

I don't have any experience with the Amby, but I did purchase a co-sleeper when I was pregnant. After our son was born, we only used it a few times, and then he just started sleeping in the bed with us. I would nurse him to sleep, and it was a lot of trouble to keep moving him and usually waking him up in the process.

I don't know anything about the amby hammock, however I was in the same boat when my second child was born. We resorted to a pack n play. It worked great! Like I said I don't know anything about the amby baby hammock, however be sure that there is some sort of support in it, the spine is growing and you want support so it is growing properly! Just my two cents! Good Luck!
