All Terrain Strollers

I'm looking to see if anyone has used/bought the Jeep Liberty Limited 3 wheel stroller. I want a nice stroller that can handle more than just paved flat surfaces, working out with the baby (not jogging), and has a little storage for day outings. I really like the Valco Baby and the BOB strollers but can't justify spending over $300. I've read some good things with the Jeep and wanted to see if others agreed. Thanks!

I have a Jeep jogging stroller; bought it a year or two ago and my son actually picked it out (it has the little car set up on the tray). I really like it, although I haven't bought any others. It's the green one with yellow trim. It's very easy to maneuver, especially compared to regular strollers. I also like that the front wheel swivels.

Hello- We do have the Jeep stroller and love it. It came in handy when there was still snow on the ground and it is comfortable for my son. I would recommend it.

Becky,

Yes and within less than a year the front of the frame was warped - and we never jogged in it. We just used it for regular outings. We bought it because the handles are higher (I'm 5'11") and it had greater manuverability. I wouldn't buy it again.

Sorry that it's not what you were hoping to hear. Maybe it was just our bad luck. :(

The BOB is well worth the extra money. I bet you will make excuses to use it.

If you're looking for an all terrain, I have Tike Tech. They are BOB's closest competitor. I absolutely love it for my long walks. Side by Side, Tike Tech is as good as or better than Bob Joggers - quality and pricing. There is a website that rates strollers and Tike Tech get 4.5 to 5 rating out of 5 every time. Easy to assemble, easy to fold and built to last.
I am a part-time working mother of a 12mo and also have an online green children's boutique. I do offer one of the best stroller line by baby planet. I've replaced my maclaren with baby planet and I cannot say enough about it. Feel free to check out our web store www.ana-k.com. By the way baby planet has an endangered species collection that was on The View. I personally love the baby planet collection. If you have interest in the Tike Tech please contact me.

Dear Becky, funnily enough the Baby Bargains book rates the Jeep, which is actually made by Kolcraft, a B+... this isn't such a bad rating but I only went for the A rated items when purchasing, which included the BOB. I've also spoken to lots of parents regarding the performance of the BOB and all have been positive. It just might be worth spending the couple of hundred dollars more for the BOB - mine came out at about $379. You would need to purchase a rain cover and Graco sell one for about $20. Your other options are: buy second hand or buy and ex floor model. They offered me a floor model which I declined for storage reasons (awaiting arrival of second child) for 10-20% off. Good luck shopping!

Becky,
I just got a great stroller Wednesday at Galt Toys in Northbrook Court for $199. Baby Jogger City Mini and it maneuvers like a dream! It is brand new for 2008 and I fell in love with it. Folds with one hand, full recline, huge canopy for baby, big quiet wheels. I just have 2 minor complaints, no cup holder for me(I clamped on one from an old umbrella stroller), and mediochre storage, but my new diaper bag clips on to the handle anyway. http://www.babyjogger.com/cityminimain.htm
Check it out NOW because I heard that ALL strollers are going up in cost due to increase in fuel prices.
Good Luck!

Have had this stroller for 4 years it is absolutely wonderful. It's sturdy and handles great. It's been through 3 airplane trips and two kids, still in great shape. Has a huge area for storage underneath and even comes with a air pump for the tires. I've had several parents compliment how nice it handles. It was a great buy for me well worth the money.

We love our Baby Jogger city series. Very maneuverable, and as the name implied great for the city. We have also taken it out on trail and it does fine.

i actually have a BOB and it is seriously the best investment i ever made ... the beauty of the BOB is its durability ... i am going on year three and a half and it rolls and looks brand new ... the cost was a bit steep for me too ... but i have discovered with strollers that sometimes the cheapest will not last you long enough - i know because i have gone through more strollers with three toddlers than i can count ... until i got the BOB!

good luck!

It gets flat tires all the time. Your little guy is only 7 months old and you are going to use this for a couple of years. I'd buy a nicer one. Sorry,

Hi Becky,
I have a BOB and I can not say enough good things about it. I love love love it. It is a lot for the initial investment, but it is really worth it. It will last for years- I know people who have 5 year olds still in it! I have the Revolution which has a rotating front wheel and the option to lock it if you are going to be jogging. I don't think the Jeep has a rotating front wheel, which is really important for ease of use when just walking. The website wwww.joggermom.com ships BOBs for free, and I think the pricing is pretty decent. Hope that helps!

We have the BOB and we love it. It was a gift so the cost was not a factor but I would spend the money for it. It is so well built. We took it to Las Vegas and went hiking in the Red Rock Canyon with our son. We went over boulders and very rough terrain. We also have our regular Chicco everyday stroller (which we like) but it does not compare to the BOB. But we are outdoor people who love going camping and hikes.

Hi Becky. I have an 8 month old boy and we just bought the Jeep Stroller. We didn't want to spend very much in case we have another baby and have to get a double. So far I really like it. It rides smoothly and folds-up easily. The fork that holds the front wheel was a little slanted when we put it together. But, I called the number on the box and they are sending us a new fork, no questions asked. After reading the rest of your responses, I question whether a BOB stroller would have been better. Oh well, we'll just hope for the best. Right now, I love it. Also, consumer reports rates the Jeep Overland as one of the best. The only downside is that the front wheel doesn't swivel so we got the Liberty. Good luck!

It depends on what type of terrain you are planning on using it on. ARe you talking about walking around on gravel paths in forest preserves, or really taking it out on an actual hike where you are taking it over gullies and boulders. If it's the former, the Jeep will and can work well. If it's the latter, you're going to have to spend the extra money. I have traveled extensively with our Bob, as well as taken it on all kinds of terrain. I have friends with the Jeep who had to stay in their car cause they couldn't make it at a park we went to. Sad but the Bob is really equal to none

I have the jeep stroller and I love it! My husband and I like to play disc golf and the course that we went to had lots of little hills and grassy areas. We took our 5 week old in the stroller and he slept the whole time.
The stroller was great and the bonus is our I-pod hooks up to the stroller so we had some tunes while we played. The wheels are really durable. Good stroller!

I have a 2 1/2 year old. I got it for Christmas of 2006. It works well and steers well. The back wheel base is a little wide and so I sometimes have a hard time shopping with it. But, overall I can't complain. It has plenty of storage and she still fits well in it. It is great for napping and has 2 cup holders and a compartment on the top by the handles. The front wheel can swivel or be stationary too.

I don't have experience with the Jeep stroller. But I had the Fisher Price Infant to Toddler stroller and LOVED it! It runs $150 new, but I got it off craigslist for $100. It has large pneumatic wheels in the back. If I had to do it again, I'd just skip the other stroller I tried before it. I loved this stroller!

We bought ours 3 years ago. We love it. It didn't work well for when my daughter was tiny (that is when we used the Graco stroller), but once she could reach the toys it was awesome. We still use it, it handles really well too. Storage was good and wheels were great for all surfaces - especially uneven sidewalks! We have never had a flat, may have pumped them up after not using it for a long while.

I have this stroller and I have used it with my daughter since she was 10 months. I love it. My tires have only gone flat twice in 3 years and they give you a pump so it really isn't that big a deal to fix that. When we lived in the city I took it everywhere and the ride is very smooth. Also my daughter loved when I plugged in the cd player & played the music for her. It is a bit big to take on the EL or anything like that so I did buy a lightweight Maclearan Triumph for trips thru the airport, traveling, el, etc. But whenever I ask my daughter which stroller she wants to ride in, she picks the Jeep. If you don't need to jog, I would buy this stroller again in a heartbeat.
