I currently am a pet-customer at Aladdin Animal Clinic in Flower Mound(they do a great job-I have no complaints about the quality of their services)....after talking to other dog owners they insist that I am paying WAY more than I should for normal pet visits(check-up, shots, etc)....does anyone know of a place that is truly reasonably priced.
Can anyone recommend a vet that won't put me into debt and request unnecessary care? Thanks,
T. L.

Hi T.,

I also found out we were overpaying significantly at another local vet clinic here in Flower Mound. Someone recommended Angel Vet Clinic off of 2499 and I can honestly say it was the best move for us. The prices are considerably less than what I was being charged before, the staff is awesome and they are building a brand new facility across the street that they will be moving into in April. All in all, I can't say enough good things about them.

Good Luck!

Hi T.,
Yes....I found the same situation and ended up (via recommendation) taking my dog to the veterinary

They give good care and I was satisfied.

A word of caution, once I had his teeth cleaned and they over sedated my dog and we ended up in emergency care over a week end and almost lost him. Granted, by then he was already 15 years old and that may be why he did not take to the sedation too well.

Good luck!

I second Dr. Shaffer. We love him. Our cat was diagnosed with cancer last year and had to be put to sleep. He was just awesome throughout the whole process. He really looked out for the best interest of our cat. His rates are reasonable, and he is very understanding of controlling cost when caring for your pet.

Hi T.,

When I lived in Flower Mound, I used Main Street Vet off 1171 and Kirkpatrick. They seemed reasonably priced, and were wonderful with my dog. They also have a grooming service that I used from time to time that was probably the best I've used. Their information is: 4100 Kirkpatrick Ln
Flower Mound, TX 75028###-###-####.

Hope this helps. Good luck in your search!

I take my dogs to Angel Vet. on 2499 and Dr Unger is wonderful and their prices seem to be in line. One of my dogs has cancer and Dr Unger really listens to your situation and will recommend a course of action based on you and your dog's needs. She doesn't constantly try to sell services like other vets in the past that I have used. GOOD Luck!

A heads up...after we took my dog to the mobile vet for shots she has never been the same! She had a severe reaction from the shot and we ended up spending a ton at the ER Vet that night and it was scarey. She never had this reaction when I took her to our normal vet. Sometimes you get what you pay for...I am not saying for sure that it was the mobile vet's fault but I have heard other stories that compare.

Hi T.,

For shots and other minor services, I highly recommend the mobile vet that is in the Main Valley Shopping Center on weekends. http://www.vettruck.com/

For actual illnesses, we use Timber Valley Pet Hospital (right off 121) and have always been pleased with their services. http://www.timbervalleypet.com/

Good luck!

Most vets in the Flower Mound/Highland Village area are priced about the same. I know this to be true b/c I work for one.

You will have to travel a bit furthur out to find lower prices.

Hi T.,
We use Angel Vet Clinic in Flower Mound. We have been going there for 7 yrs. Our first dog had alot of problems and ran up some very high bills. They reduced the price by a large amount because when I first went in there I told them I could not afford to spend much and the dog was 13 yrs. old. I have not compared prices to other vets in the area, but they are so good there....I also purchased pet insurance with our second dog and that helps quite a bit as our dog has allergies. Angel vet clinic is building a really nice new facility across the street from where they are now. Hopefully this won't make prices go up.

We've used Old Orchard Animal Clinic in Lewisville (SW corner of Main and Old Orchard) for 24 years and found Dr. Kirby to be extremely affordable and he never does something unless it's absolutely necessary. ###-###-####.

We had the same problem with Aladdin. They always wanted to do extra stuff and sometimes didn't tell us in advance! We were paying way too much and when our dog got sick it was ridiculous. We now have the basic care plan at the Banfield in Petsmart. It's been fine and we don't spend near as much. I know of some other neighbors that use the mobile vets that will come to your home for basic care that have been very happy.

I found a very low cost mobile vet in Lewisville that looks wonderful from their website. We recently got a second beagle and she needs her shots and everything so I was also looking for an affordable way to care for our dogs. The website for the vet is www.vettruck.com I've seen them in Lewisville and I was always curious. I even got a coupon for a free spay for my dog from STOP, I found it on the website. The feedback from other pet owners looks good.

Do you have a Petco or Petsmart near you? I found out yesterday that they have a VET on site. On Tuesday and Thursday in the afternoon for a time period, the office visit is FREE. It's a hit or miss, but I am going to try it. She said sometimes they have one customer and sometimes ten. It's worth a try. And, I also tell them, only give him (my dog) what he needs, for his shots. I just tell them, I have two kids and do not have the money to spend anything extra. Actually, look below...I found some information for you:

We use the vet clinic in Petsmart, Banfield. You pay a $21.95 monthly fee, but no doctor visit fees. This montly fee includes annual shots and doctor visits. Then when you bring your pet in all you have to pay for is the medicine, which they give youa 10% discount on. I am in Irving, but every Petsmart I have been in from here to Houston has a Banfield clinic in their store.

Hi T.,

I too take my pets(dogs and cat) to Aladdin Animal Hospt. in FM. since moving here from Pa. just six months ago. When I moved here I also needed a vet for my pet birds (Aladdin doesn't treat birds)I have found that South Flower Mound Veternarian Hospt. on Northshore (off 2499) to be more reasonable in cost for yearly checkups, vaccinations etc..for all types of pets. I am considering transfering my dogs/cat records over to South Flower Mound animal hospt. but I have been procrastinating for the simple fact that yes, I too like the people at Aladdin. I'm sure you have received advice from others just thought I'd add my advice from my own experience.
Good Luck!

We have a GREAT vet up in Denton http://www.dovecreekanimalhospital.com/

We've been taking our pets there for almost 14 years. They have very fair prices and I've never felt like they were trying to push services on us that we don't need.
We're in Highland Village and it's about a 10 minute drive.

I'm hoping to substitute while I'm out on maternity leave from August - November. Do you happen to have any contacts at the district?

I use Dr. Shaffer at Flower Mound Veterinary Hospital. I have found his prices to be very reasonable, and he never tries to upsell on products. He gives us home remedy suggestions before pushing prescriptions or unnecessary "procedures."

I would recommend my vet in Grapevine. It might be a little further than you wanted to go. I'm not sure how comparable his regular visits are but every 3rd Saturday of the month, they have discounted shots and 50% off the office visit (about $30 regular). You don't need to be a regular customer to take advantage of the 3rd Saturday.

I am interested in that answer as well. We took our dog to an Argyle Vet and they charged us $200 to cure an ear infection! I thought since it was in the "country" they would be cheaper, boy was I wrong!

We drive into Denton to see Nub Neighbors. We love him and would never go anywhere else. It's about a 15 min. drive but well worth it. Nub is very in-expensive and a good old farm boy who works in a good old farm house. Denton Small Animal Clinic ###-###-####
