Hi Moms,
I have a 2.5 yr. old and am due in July with my third(my oldest is 14). I am curious as to what brands of strollers you might recommend or not. I was considring the Graco quattro tour duo or the Contours Options Tandem stroller. Are there any other brands that you really like? Thanks in advance.

Graco side by side.. loved it!!! good luck.. the side by side has more leg room then the back to front type. it's great as they get bigger.. just roomier! and it worked great in the malls too. good luck

Everyone I've spoken to hates the tandem strollers. Their to wide. You can't fit through doorways and shopping through the racks at the mall is impossible. I have the sit-n-stand stroller offered at One Step Ahead. It's nice because it can be set up to fit almost any infant car seat. And the back is nice so that my son can ride sitting or standing. He was just over 3 when my daughter was born so he was able to walk along the side, but if he got to tired he could sit. I know people who've had the tandem and then had to go spend more money because they hated it. The front to back isn't any wider then a normal stroller.

When I had my daughter, my son was 4...I liked the sit n stand. It accomodated the the infant carseat and could recline with my son sitting or standing.
4 yrs later when our twins were born I was given a gently used Graco duo glider...it is a side by side, but what I love is pretty standard for a Graco...easy to fold, easy to push and great maneuverability.

I rcommend you go to a store and test drive the models you are interested in...even put the infant seat and your toddler in to see how easy it is to maneuvere when it is 'fully loaded'. Although not mandatory, a built in cup holder for you and both children is always a selling point too.

Congratulations and good luck.

Hi R.,
I bought Graco Duo Glider(seats one baby in front of another - not so wide at all) in 2003 when I had my second son.
I hope it is still in the market. It's so light and manageable. Turns like a dream and it folds easily.
Good luck,
L..

For my twins, I used the Baby Jogger Double City stroller (I think that was the name). Very easy to fold and so easy to push around. The wheels either swivel (which is how I used it) or you could use it as a jog stroller. The only problem is it is expensive and most likely, your 2.5 year old won't be in it much longer, so maybe opt for something cheaper.

By the way, with respect to tandem strollers, I will say that I took it EVERYWHERE and never had a problem fitting through doors. I guess if I had to shop with shopping racks very close together, maybe it would be a problem. But I took that stroller EVERYWHERE... supermarket, Starbucks, mall, etc...

When my oldest daughter turned 2 I gave birth to my baby girl. My 2 year old was already very independent so we decided to go with the sit and stand stroller verses the tandum. It has a seat belt for her if we need to keep her in but it also gives her the freedom to get in and out herself. We purchased ours from Juvey and we love it. It is very light and easy to get in and out of the car. I found the tandum strollers to be very big and bulkey. I would highly reccommend the Juvey sit and stand.

Hi R., I recently bought a double stroller that, so far, is working out GREAT! It's the baby jogger city mini double. Here's the link: http://www.babyjogger.com/city_mini_dbl_dtl.aspx

The stroller is incredibly light and handles better than our Bugaboo Frog. The sunshades are generous and I love the way the seats recline; each seat has a mesh bag for storage as well as a large basket under the stroller.

The biggest selling points to me were how easy it is to open and close. It takes less than a second to do either (Im not exaggerating) and honestly could not be easier -- which is super helpful when you'v got two kids in tow.

We were going to go with the Jane USA double stroller, which is a tandem style (one child in front of the other) however when we "test drove" the stroller there were blind spots because of how long it is. The side-by-side stroller we bought is just 3" wider than our Bugaboo, which is almost unbelievable ...

Anyway, the Baby Jogger City Mini Double is proving to be a great stroller for my family. Good luck with your search!

For every day Phil and Teds all the way!!!! Tandem is too big for anything other then outdoor activities. If you are getting 2 strollers...... then the Chariot Carrier is a great outdoor type stroller. I have both of these strollers and I love them both but I use my Phil and Ted's all the time..... LOVE IT!!!!

Though I don't have two children yet, I bought the Phil & Ted's Sport buggy (http://www.philandteds.com/index_home_jazzed.htm) because the second seat sits behind the first so you don't end up being a double wide ride. They also have a side by side if you prefer.

In addition I have seen a lot of people with a Baby Jogger's mini double stroller that has a side by side option but isn't as wide as other side-by-side options (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=306104....

Hope this helps.

My friends swear by the double jogging stroller, I don't know which brand, but I do know that pushing it with 2 children and packed with stuff was so light and effortless!!! It's a bit on the bigger side, but if you have room I would say it's worth it!

HI R.
God bless you and your lovely family.
Been too long to really help with stroller question, but our younger son was 14, when our twins were born. I just wanted to send my best wishes.
I read your responses and thought about why we didn't use stoller at 3, well, we live an hour from the mall, the girls were ready to walk, and needed the exercise. So think about where you will be using the stroller and how.

I'm in the same place you are. I too have a 2 1/2 year old and a baby due in July. I have looked at all the Graco strollers because I have the graco car seat and NONE of them are rated for more than 40lbs per seat. My daughter will be almost 3 when baby is born and she is a big girl already weighing 40lbs. I can't seem to find one that goes much beyond that. When buying take into consideration the 2yo size. If she is small and petite you may find one but if she is big check the weight rating! A.

I actually just bought a tandem stroller - Phil & Ted Vibe.. in Costco online. They are normally $700, but was able to purchase them for $500 with free shipping. I wanted the sport, but i waited too long and it ran out pretty fast. I have met a couple of folks with the Phil and Ted stroller in Manhattan and it just looks sooo much easier than the side by side stroller.. but of course it is up to you and your budget and what will fit your lifestyle. I too am having my second in August and my other little one is 2yo. Good luck!

My son was 2.5 last summer(February birthday) and I was pregnant. We had almost totally put away the stroller except for long outings in a crowd. We got a sit and stand stroller rather than a regular double when we had baby #2 in December. My son likes it sometimes but mostly walks on his own. He gets on it to cross streets and if he gets tired. It is big and heavy so it is less convient than a regular stroller and we probably could have gotten by with a regular stroller with a large basket most of the time. We have a Joovey Cabose and it is pretty good but has no parent tray. I think we should have gotten the Baby Trend sit and stand which is slightly lighter and has a parent tray.
