Advice on Nursing Bras

I am looking for recommendations on brands of good nursing bras(decent price, good quality and long lasting), especially for someone who is well endowed.

Thanks everyone for all the advice! I did go to Nordstrom and got fitted and bought the Anita bra. Pricey, but good support. I am also heading to Bosom Buddies today to see what else I may be able to find. At least this gives me a start and then once I have the baby and really know what is going on, I take all these other suggestions and order some things online too. Thank you all!

I love my mimi maternity bra; light padding - I bought one in Black and like it so much I bought one in tan. Very comfortable, easy unhook/rehook and has good support. It was $38 and I picked it up at Macys.

HI S., I definately agree with the "Boosum Buddies" store! They helped me with my maternity and nursing bra's. Now they help me with my regular bras. I was an "H" after my milk came in! I really had no idea that boobs could get that big naturally! :) Anyway, be prepaired for them to stay large. I never returned to a "D" I am now an E or F depending on the brand. The women working there will fit you just right. They have sizes up to "K" I think. hope you don't need that one! You can expect to pay between $70-$90.00 each. Try to leave the babies with someone whle you go. Good luck.

Hi S.,
I found lots of great nursing bras online at breakoutbras.com. They have a great section on how to find your correct size in nursing/maternity bras as well as regular bras. I had been wearing the wrong size, and wearing the right one make SO much difference! I am also well-endowed (36H), so I know how hard it can be to find bras in my size, I can't just go to Target or the mall and find a bra that fits me. I really like Freya and Fantasie bras, they are really supportive, but still pretty and fun, but the website I mentioned has a great selection of stuff, some a bit pricey, but worth every penny!
Good luck!

Hi S.

"our sweet beginnings" in littleton (downtown near the melting pot), has custom bra fitting, highly recommend it... and yes, they do carry bigger sizes. I'm normally a 36-38 C, but when pregnant/nursing wore a 38-40 DD...

it won't be cheap, but a well fitting bra is worth it...

for night time, I like the sleeping bras they have at motherhood maternity... and heck, I wore one for the first six weeks or so pretty much around the clock (unless I had to leave the house).

bravado-i think they're called lifestyle microfiber...they run ~$50 but they're my fave!

There is a great bra that I recommend to all of my StrollerFit moms..it's actually a jogging bra, but you can use it as a nursing bra, as well. It's made by Moving Comfort and the style name is Fiona.

I think it runs about $50, but you might be able to find it online for less. Title 9 stores carry them.

Good Luck!

There is a lot of advice on this website too on choosing nursing bras.

They have a great store near the Park Meadows mall---ideal to be fitted appropriately and you can try on all different styles to see what suits you best. (They also have a kit you can order online to help fit as well, from afar. :0)The one I ended up coming home with (in all the colors they had available and a couple more :0) was made by Bravado. The numbers inside the label are 1401 and beneath that is CA 50897. I am not sure which is the style number. I like them because the clasp is easy to do, they have laundered really well over the past year---they actually still look like new. With my first three kids, I used the Playtex ones that you could get at Kohl's and JCP. I wish I would have found Bravado first because the Playtex ones were horrid for support. And, FWIW, a pointelle style, like the Playtex ones, loses it's shape and support because of the little dots on the front (I think I learned this from one breastfeeding website and I can say that it's true!)

Lastly, you didn't ask for this so bear with me as I give some gratuitous advice (something SO MANY pregnant women have to bear, sorry)----I bought 7 bras with the idea in mind to wash them once a week. You are so busy with the baby and keeping up around the house sometimes that it is nice to know there is always a clean bra. During the first few months you will likely go through two a day depending on how much you leak. I did find the disposable breast pads (Johnson and Johnson, Medela, and others) worked really well to help keep you bras drier and cleaner. I will say that I am glad I have all those bras and as I come to a close with my baby turning one soon, she is only nursing before naps and bedtimes, but I know I have gotten a lot of good out of those bras and didn't have to buy anymore through the year.

Best wishes.

You can look on www.lanebryant.com. I know the store is for plus-size, but I still got my bras through them because they are still kind of pretty for the size. You don't feel so "industrial", if you know what I mean. I hope this helps.
