I had acupuncture with both my pregnancies... because I had BAD morning sickness/vomiting and migraines.
Just 1 half hour session was all it took, and it was all gone!
It is very relaxing and does not hurt.
I did it, per the suggestion of my OB/GYN.
Make sure you use an Acupuncturist that handles pregnant women.
Prices will vary I guess, like anything.

all the best,
Susan

The motion sickness bands that sit on the acupuncture points on your wrists worked great for me. I also did acupuncture for everything from pain to starting labor to helping my body recoup after birth. I would definitely recommend it!!

I can't recommend accpuncture enough during and after pregnancy. I did it with both of my kids. It kept my swelling down it was a chance for me to just relax and two of my coworkers also became hooked. Ensure your accunpcurist is a doctor. I think it works because you get so relaxed you really can feel the tension releasing with the needles. The accunpturist will focus on areas you tell them are pain points for you. My accunpturist does a energy reading before each session and shows me where my levels are off. The intial consultation is usually about $100 and each session is about $50. I am telling you give it try it can't hurt. There are also accunpturist that specialize in pregnancy relief. If accunpture does not work my friend swears by a massage therapist that works only with pregnant women. I think the most important thing is to find some me time during this most important time to reflect on the journey you are about to embrace. Enjoy!

I have no experience with acupuncture and pregnancy but did want to say that i do have experience with Zofran. I took it my entire pregnancy and still threw up. I also had in-home IVs which were a life saver, decreased throwing up (some of it can be from dehydration), and I was at least able to get up and get moving. I would definately try acupuncture if I were you, I have used it since my pregancy and wished I would have known to try it then.

I have done acupuncture, but not for this reason. I would call around and make sure that the acupuncturist works with pregnant women. If you have general questions about acupuncture, I would be happy to help.

Acupuncture's theory is that when you are sick or in pain, your body's energy is out of balance and/or your emotions/stress are making you sick. They place hair-thin tiny needles in your skin that do not hurt. The acupuncturists believe that everything in your body is connected, so instead of treating a localized part of your body, like your stomach, they would try and stimulate whatever other points in your body that connect with the stomach. After they put the needles in your body, you just lie still on the table for like 45 minutes and then you are done. I am not sure exactly how these things work but they have helped fix my hormonal imbalances. Good luck!

Ask your doctor if you can try an acid reducer. I had this type of morning sickness with my second child. I lost 14 lbs the first trimester. I went to a naturopathic doctor who told me my body was too acidic. He recommended natural antacids like cauliflower or whey protein, but they weren't strong enough. So I asked my OB and got permission to take an over the counter acid reducer. It did not remove the nausea all together, but at least I stopped throwing up. I think the one I took was Zantac. And my son was born totally normal. He's 4-1/2 now and super smart and actually ahead developmentally.

I hope you find something that works. I know how hard it can be!

I have never done acupuncture but my husband has and it works every time! I would just talk to your doc and make sure it is ok then make sure you get connected with someone that is an extreme expert on acupuncture so you get the best results.

I cannot even profess to understand how it works or why it works but it certainly does. I know my husband pays about $50 to $80 per session and the last one he only needed one session. It was amazing.

I say if your doc says it is ok, then give it a try.

I am on child #4 and this pregnancy is the only one that I was debilitated with nausea and down for most of the day even with meds from the doc. Ultimately, apples and straight Coke (in small doses) is the only thing that worked. I am on month 6 now and still get sick but it has lightened up so there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hope you feel better, good luck!
