Activities for a 1 and 3 Year Old
I was wondering if any of you had any novel ideas of activities to preoccupy my 1 year old and 3 year old together. I feel that I do one activity with one but can't include the other in the same activity because it is too "babyish" for the 3 year old and too advanced for the one year old. Any input would be helpful- Thanks!

finger paints and glue sticks.. the washable kind with different shapes cut out of construction paper. Games like Candyland and chutes and ladders with you helping your one year old.
Making cookies or other things where they can dump ingredents in and sprinkle things on top.
One year old will be wanting to keep up with the three year old so the possibilities are endless.

Our kids are almost 2 years apart too. Here's some things they liked doing together. Since the youngest was just about 1.
-playdoh (I make homemade and give them playdoh toys or kitchen gadgets to play with)
-painting
-small round swimming pool (we put it in the kitchen when we do this so I can just sweep up any mess) and I put the kids in it with large tupperware bowls, spoons, measure cups and put beans in their bowls
-sing songs (like hokey pokey, head-shoulders-knees-toes, any song with actions!)
-color with the kids (let them use markers because the one year old probably won't push hard enough to color with crayons......)
-lay down an old quilt and have the kids sit on it, blow bubbles for them to catch, or let them blow (could also do this in the tub)

Hi D.
My children are three years apart so we had this issue also
my kids like to pudding paint or jello paint together. also they both loved bubbles I would blow them and they would chase them or let your three year old blow tham and his sister chase them. this may be more difficult know that it is geting colder out side but we still blew them in the bathtub in the winter.

I have a 3 year old boy and a 1 year old, active girl too! I can relate. I take them to indoor parks, Children's Museum, the zoo, etc. They both like those things. Where do you guys live? Maybe we could get together for a playdate if you're close.
