Hi Moms,
My daughter is turning 9 years old soon and would like to have a birthday party. We live in a small town with very limited activities. The closest thing available is about 40 miles, except for pizza or skating. She doesn't want either of those because she doesn't skate very well. She would like to have a birthday at home. She is not really into hair/makeup, girly type parties. She is more into sports, animals, crafts, etc... Her birthday is in a few weeks, so it could be too cold to be outside. Any ideas? She wants to have boys and girls. I just don't know what to do with 15 kids in the house for 2 hours. I REALLY appreciate any suggestions you can share!

What can I do next?

For my son's 9th birthday we made marshmallow blow guns and it was a HUGE hit. It's super inexpensive and so easy to do. After we made the guns I gave each of the kids a huge bag of mini marshmallows and they had a hay day running around shooting marshmallows at each other. I also set up an ice cream sundae bar which they loved. Another idea is you could set up carnival type games in the house and have little prizes at each station. ie: attach a large piece of cardboard to a wall and staple balloons on the cardboard. Then have the kids use darts to pop the balloons. You could also do a ring toss with water bottles or a coin toss. If you did this I would recruit some of your friends or other parents to monitor the game stations. Good luck and have fun.

Have you thought about a bounce house? We have them and I've always told my friends and customers, its a great babysitter.

Call us and ask for L. or Angel.

Have you looked into the traveling petting zoo? There are a ton of them out there. Some of them even do exotic animals only and will give them a class on them.

How about a kid version of Pictionary. Get a large dry-erase board or big pad of paper and markers along with an easel. My husband and I play it when we have friends over and the kids always want to play, too. You could also have them play charades. Interactive games would be good so nobody is left out.
