7 Month Old Diaper Rash and Lovey..
So my first was a girl, second a boy and I am not use to boy parts and all that jazz...my son keeps getting small red bumps along his waist, redness at crease in thigh and sometimes not always around testies and under them. I have been using aquaphor, A&D, and baby powder (not all at same time). One day the rash will look good, two diapers later redness is back. Is this normal for boys??
and
My son does not use a pacifier but i noticed he chews/sucks on his lovey when he falls asleep. will this cause me issues down the road? I figured he would have found a finger to suck by he seems to prefer cloth! gross..just wondering if others did this and what the outcome was.
Thanks mamas!!

Have you tried switching diaper brands? Sounds like just a reaction to something in the diaper. My son got redness/rashes from Pampers but not from generic brands (like from Walmart & Target).
If you are using cloth diapers, try a different free/clear detergent, eliminating OxyClean, dryer sheets, etc.
And, don't worry about his lovey! It is a great way for him to self-soothe.
Good luck!

To the rash try different diapers. My daughter broke out from huggies and still does to this day at 1. She is happiest in either pampers baby dry or luvs. Which are actually the same diaper both made from Procter and Gamble. Anyway, also I swear by triple past. Walmart, Bartells and Walgreens sell a 2oz tube that you can try out. I bought a big tube when my daughter was 4months and we are still using it.
She was in a hip harness and brace from 3 weeks until 5.5 months. She had stool in her diaper at all times. I am not exaggerating either. It was due to the position on her legs. Anyway, she had a bad bad rash from 3 weeks until 4months so bad that it looked like wood with worms. We tried nistatin and other prescriptions but nothing worked until I found triple paste. Now nothing goes on her bum when she gets a rash. Like right now she has a rash due to new food introduced into her diet. A day of cream and it will be cleaned up.
The lovey is a great thing. My daughter didn't take pacifiers either. She will suck on tags. The only issue I see arising is if you don't have multiple of the same lovey. If this one wears out depending on how dependent he is on it me might get really really upset. You can figure out if you want to break that or keep with it. I personally think loveys are a fabulous thing. If I could get my daughter to attach to something I would be happy. And when washing wash it in a pillow case. It will help keep the wear from the wash down!

It could also be a yeast infection especially if the red bumps are bright red, like "fire-engine" red and in his skin folds. Make sure you dry really well in his skin folds and see if his pediatrician can take a look at it because Nystatin cream works wonders, but you need a prescription for it.
Good luck!

Clear, warm, water rinses between every diaper @ air dry as often as possible....once he is cleared up, do the water only rinses at least after dirty diapers.

I swear by Triple-Paste. Only had one diaper rash on my son in 11 months, and that was when we tried Desitin.
But boys pee more...ummm....forward than down. So it may be a touch of diaper rash from that. I would recommend diaper changes anytime he has pee. The few times we've tried to "stretch" a diaper (b/c they're so absorbant and in 12 hour styles) - it backfired and we got the same rashy looking stuff.

My guy had similar "rashes," it was the diapers so you can try switching to see if it changes. I used Target's version of A & D ointment, and their brand of cornstarch baby powder at diaper changes.
Sucking on his lovey is fine, my little guy practically sucked his bear Arnold's nose off, lol, it was stitched on so no parts to come off, and at almost 3 he is still his favorite lovey. He never sucked or chewed on his fingers or thumb and Arnold gets regular baths in the washing machine (tied up in a pillowcase.)
