I am 5 /12 weeks pregnant and yesterday I had some brown blood show up. It wasn't a lot but now I am freaked out. I called the midwife and she said that it could be any number of things. I have had a miscarriage before and there was more blood and I had a miscarriage shortly after I discovered the blood. I haven't had anymore blood since yesterday and I am wondering if anyone else has had the same situation and still carried to term?

What can I do next?

I had the same exact thing, brown blood and history of miscarriage. Brown means nothing is actively bleeding. I used progesterone cream until 18 weeks to support the pregnancy, and it helped me feel more confident, also. I had a healthy pregnancy and now have a healthy baby. Take things easy, don't do anything too active, don't lift anything heavy. Best wishes for a happy healthy pregnancy and baby!

I spotted at 10 weeks with my son and he is now a healthy, active 17 month old. I spotted and passed a large clot at 5 1/2 weeks with my second and am currently at 32 weeks, due in September with a healthy baby. More often than not, it's "normal" to spot during your pregnancy. If you have a lot more spotting or pain definatley call your doctor. Otherwise, let yourself be at ease to know almost all of us go through it.

I had some spotting in my tenth week of pregnancy and thought for sure that I was going to miscarry, but it stopped after a day and I have a healthy four almost five year old boy now. Everything I read said that it can be normal to spot sometimes.

That happened to me. I'm five months now but noticed I would get brown spots for a day or two AFTER I'd over-exert myself...doing too much the day before. When I started spotting, I would take it easy for the next couple of days and it goes away.

This is my fourth pregnancy and I'm usually VERY CAREFUL in NOT doing too much my first trimester as that's the period where you can loose the baby easily with being over-worked or carry things that are over 10 lbs.

Take care an dtake it easy.

I totally had this at 6 weeks with my first child. I talked to my midwife too, who told me about how brown and pink blood are not-to-concerning. My spotting went away after a day or two and didn't come back. I carried my daughter to full term (and a little bit beyond) with no other problems. Good luck!

I has brown spotting a few times with my first pregnancy and my obgyn was not at all worried about it. I freaked out and went in to have her check me and she said unless it red blood, there's nothing to worry about! But obviously call and go see your dr if you are worried about it!! I know getting checked always made me feel better!!

Yes! I had placentia previa, which just meant I was carrying the baby low in the uterus, but as the baby grew, everything normalized, and I was fine! I would just lay low, no exercise, heavy lifting etc. See if your doc will schedule an ultrasound, so you can hear that heartbeat, then you can know everything is ok! :)

Hi I had brown spotting with my now 3 yo daughter. :) Turned out my progestrone levels were low. I would have yours checked just to be sure. Once they saw my levels were low, they put me on progestrone supplements and I stopped bleeding. Hope that helps. God bless you and your baby!

Brown spotting in pregnancy is pretty common and nothing to fret about. It is the bright red or red and grayish discharge that is cause for alarm. I remember spotting some brown stuff in my first trimester around when my period was due but it never came and I found out I pregnant. I now have an 8 month old boy:)
