We were out shopping on Saturday and my daughter did not go to the bathroom for a long while. I asked her several times if she needed to go but she kept saying no. Then she had to go but we were in line for Santa so she said she could wait. As soon as we saw Santa we got in the car and went to a restaurant. She was complaining walking in that it hurt and she kept pointing to her belly. She wanted to be carried and she put her self in an akward position in my arms to lessen the pain. I put her down in the bathroom and that really made her hurt. I got her on the potty and then after she peed she felt alot better. We ate dinner, came home and everything was fine. Then she ran to the bathroom and could not get her pants down fast enough and peed in the bathroom floor and all over her clothes. I cleaned her up and got her ready for bed. She has had accidents on and off at night so she still uses a pull up at night. Sunday she was complaining of constipation. Then that stopped and she was fine. Today she didnt go while we were out at the mall. Wnen we got home she went to the bathroom. It was nap time so I put her to bed for a nap. She had an accident while sleeping at nap time. She never has an accident at nap time. I have not put her in a pull up at nap for probably a year. She acts fine and is not running a fever. Do I need to have her checked out by a Dr or just wait a bit and see what happens?

So What Happened?

Thanks moms. The constipation is gone now. I talked to her Dr yesterday in the morning. He said to get her to drink apple juice to help with the constipation. If she has another accident yesterday I was to bring her in today. She did not have an accident but I have noticed her urine is really strong. So I am taking her in to the Dr

Often if your child is constipated the bladder is getting extra pressure which can cause accidents. Try dealing with the constipation for a day or two to see if that make the pain and accidents better.

My daughter used to have accidents all the time. The doctor checked her for everything and all the test came back negative. We then took her to see a urologist and they told me to give her Miralax. It worked, she said that when she was constipated it pushed up against her bladder. But I would get her checked out just in case!!

I wouldn't be afraisd to get it tested. My 4 yr old daughter goes through this sometimes. It seems like for her it always comes back negative but I never get afraid to have it tested if it goes on for more than a couple of days. Most of the time she forgets to wipe and makes her bottom hurt. I think this causes her to hold it and then just not get there it time. They are so into everything they are doing they don't have time for the bathroom. Which could cause them to give themselves a bladder infection.
I would ask her how she feels. If her bottom hurts. Or press on her tummy a bit to see if she has sore spots. Has there been a lot going on in the family lately. Does she just get overtired and sleep hard enough to not realize she has to go?
Trust you gut! Never hurts to get it checked but if it continues I would.

Have you ever had a bladder infection? If not I can tell you that it hurts a LOT and it gets continuously worse. Did she say it hurts when she pees? Or that she feels like she has to pee all the time? If yes then definitely take her to the doctor. Bladder infections are much more serious in children than adults, if she has one she needs to be treated right away.
