27 Weeks Pregnant and My Hip Is Painful! HELP!
Hello, Ladies!
I am having issues this time around with my hip. I am 27 weeks pregnant and here in the last couple of days I have been waking up with excruciating pain in my right hip. My mom seems to think it's caused from the shifting of bones and sleeping for a long period of time on my right side. It defiantly does hurt to walk on it, but today is a little better than yesterday. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to ease the pain?
TIA
B.

Thank you all so very much for your wonderful responses! I chose to see a massage therapist, which helped me a great deal. I really haven't had any pain since last week. Thanks again. You ladies a wonderful:)

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and have been dealing with hip and back pain for a while. My doctor suggested a pregnancy pillow. He said it will help align my hips and back. It's a little big and bulky, so I rarely use it the whole night (often it winds up on the floor around 3 a.m.), but it does help quite a bit. I still have issues, but it's not nearly as bad. I am too cheap to pay full price for a pillow, but I found one on Craigslist that someone bought and never used.
Good luck!

If it's sciatica, I HIGHLY recommend prenatal yoga, in particular "pigeon pose." This helped me HUGELY all through my pregnancy. Check out http://www.mamasteyoga.com/ to find a course near you! GL!

I had the same problems right about the same time when I was pregnant. Sleeping with body pillow between legs and doing a lot of stretching (on all fours, and wagging!) helped!

I feel for you! I had the same thing with all 3 of my pregnancies. With #1 I would get stuck on the floor and couldn't move to get up; with #2 it was more during sleeping and randomly during the day it would give while walking; with #3 it was both hips and they would slide out of place at night and I'd have to pop them back in to be able to get up and go to the bathroom. It was horrible!! My Dr. referred me to a Chiropracter and physical therapist. There where also several stretches he showed me that would help, but did not totally fix the pain. Yoga for pregnancy helped out too. Good Luck!!!

I too had sciatica (also sp?), and I waited table while I was pregnant! Just try to stay off of your feet for as long as you can. Be very careful walking, b/c sometimes it can hit out of nowhere and make you fall to the ground. My OB told me that there's nothing that you can do about it, but it usually goes away after labor and delivery. Mine still hits sometimes, but it's rare. Try to take it easy and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! Congrats!

I also had the same problem! I had sharp, shooting pains go down one side of my hip from my far lower back. I was told later (after the baby was already born) that it was probably my sciatica(sp?) acting up. It also happened when I slept on one side too long, or when I was on my feet a lot (which I was as a preschool teacher). Warm towels felt really good on my lower back, which helped the hip pain. I also made sure to switch sides throughout the night. I also asked for nightly massages from my hubby to help relieve some of the tension and pain. If it keeps up or gets really bad, I would talk to your dr. about it.

I had this too when i was pregnant...it hurt so much to get in and out of bed and to raise my legs to get into my car.
Odds are you have Round Ligament pain:
Round ligament pain refers to a type of pelvic pain caused by stretching of the round ligaments. This occurs more commonly on the right side of the pelvis.
