He has not been eating that much for the last few days. He will take a bite and spit it out. I think its something to do with his mouth. He had a fever for the first few days, now he has diarrhea so I am not sure what to do. He is very cranky and not sleeping very well.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Today he is feeling much better, he hasn't had diarrhea. He is still only eating toast, yogurt, jello, etc. He has teeth coming in. Thanks for the suggestions.

It sounds like a common virus among toddlers.... It lasts about a week. I would call your pediatrician and just push pedialyte. (get the flavored kind!) I thought I would be "smart" and give my daughter the clear kind... I tasted it... that was nasty! I also found that the name brand tastes better than the off brand. (My baby was picky!)

check for 2 year molars.
stomach virus
food poisoning

its usually something simple, just push liquids and have him checked out if his condition does not improve or if he seems to be getting worse.

Sounds like strep throat. The bacterial infection caused a fever. The sore throat prevented him from swallowing well. The diahrea is from the stretococcus endotoxins upsetting his stomach. You should take him to the doctor ASAP.

Yes, I recommend going to the doc as well. My daughter just got over a painful virus that caused blisters in her mouth. Your son might have something along those lines that makes it painful to eat.

I recommend going to the doctor also. Diarrhea can be dangerous. Make sure he is getting lots of liquids, like pediasure.
