my son has been sick ever since we have moved out here...the allergens are too much on his body. moving would be nice but now we are out of money from moving out here. The dr wont send him to a specialist at all til hes three thats menas 8 more months of sickness? neverending cough? now he has pneumonia?!?!?!? i have just learned about probiotics but he cant have yogurt and i got culturelle for kids started him on an immune boostin vitamin along with his other multi...my question is does anyone have any other ideas? was thinking about setting him up with a chiropractor..idk. Am getting a really good air purifier as well. HELP!

THIS IS NOT ASTHMA!! THEY HAVE CHECKD NOT ONLY THIS DR BUT OTHERS HIS OXYGEN INTAKE IS FINE. HE HAS REALLY BAD ALLERGIES AND WE MOVED TO RURAL AREA AND HIS IMMUNE SYSTEM CANT KEEP UP. ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE ANTIBIOTICS HES BEEN TAKING THE LAST FEW MONTHS AND NOTHING TO HELP BOOST HIS IMMUNITY BACK UP AFTERWARDS.

So What Happened?

am going to get a second opinion. ped made it sound like no one in the u.s. would do the allergy testing that he needs done. need to switch dr.s though for insurance reasons and take him to ped on base and they will refer him. need to wait though unfortunately b/c this id a delicate situation and dont want him to have probs and not have a dr. to take him 2 that can help him (the e.r. in this ass-backward town is just as weird as the dr.s!) his present ped really was the best and closest but seeings how my hubby will be leaving 4 afghanistan soon :( we will have the car and be able to do the drive whenever needed 4 him. Thanks for the advice. Anymore suggestions on soothing tips for lil' noodies would be greatly appreciated...besides lots of x's and o's...

I agree--- find a new pediatrician. That's beyond wrong that the dr won't refer him.

a chripractor isn't a bad idea- but you should also find another ped- also please try Shaklee- they offer an infant vitamin suppliment that you can add to his formula or juice that may help boost his immune system and help him beat this ! But please go see another ped! Pnemonia in a baby is no joke, and I cant believe your ped just blew you off like that!!! I hope this helped! I hope he feels better soon! <3

I would absolutely find another pediatrician. No child should have to suffer like that. My son has had asthma and allergies since he was two. You didn't say where you live, but if it is somewhere near the ocean, or with a lot of rainfall, I'm going to guess that your problem might be molds. Why can't he have yogurt? Does he have a problem with cheese? Avocados? Things that are made from mold cultures or that cultivate mold quickly may be causing a problem. If you look around the inside of your house, check windowsills and bathrooms, corners of the house and sinks, for indoor mold. Take a bottle of bleach and water, and spray a healthy dose onto the mold to get rid of it. If it is not mold, and you don't live near wet areas-if it is very dry where you live, then perhaps he has a dust allergy, or hay fever. Or both. Get the air purifier, but watch out for over-drying the air. Observe how he reacts when you take him outside to certain places-it is worse when it is windy? Do you have animals? Cat and Dog dander allergies are very common. They range from mild to severe. Observe him around animals. Do you live near horses? Are there lots of weeds where you live? Observe the surroundings very carefully, and try to deduce what it could be. Mold allergies can be very common, and very terrible. Does he have dark or red circles under his eyes? That is a sure sign of allergies. If he has trouble sleeping, if he tosses and turns, then it is likely something in your house. If he snores, it is something nearby. But, if it comes and goes over the course of a week, then it may be the environment outside- wind, etc. If he has a cough, I think that the allergy or allergies must be at least moderate, and you need to figure out what it is. I say that mold is a good bet because you said he has pneumonia, and that can happen in wet conditions pretty often. I really hope he feels better soon!

Hi A.
I think that I would get a second opinion. The air purifier will probably help too.
Good luck

I would get another pediatrician. Also, I have been told for allergies to eat a lot of LOCAL honey. Not store bought stuff but go to a farmers market or something and get honey from around where you live. It is supposed to help get your body used to the allergens over time and build up a resistance to them. That might be something you could ask your doctor about as well. But definitely get a new doctor.

just because they wont allergy test until 3 doesnt mean they cant diagnose asthma which is what this sounds like to me. find a diff ped. thats crazy to make a child suffer like that. probiotics are more for the stomach than breathing issues good luck!
