Need some help here...my 10 month old daughter loves her solids but will not eat table food. We normally give her some puffs or crunchies after her solid but she never wants them. If we try to feed it to her she makes a face and spits it out. We have tried the puffs, crunchies, banana bits an avocado. She does not like anything. I am not sure what else I can do to get her to try table foods. I have tried hiding it in her solid and that didn't work, I have even tried feeding the table food prior to the solid to see if she would be hungry enough to try it...no luck. Has anyone gone through this? Any advice? I do want to note that she does put items in her mouth, just not food....??? Help please!

What can I do next?

We're the same age and same stage of our lives (first time moms). I'm in the same boat as you and have the same age child w/the same issue! Anyway, I worry all the time that my son's not progressing enough. He's on 2nd and 3rd foods, but he hasn't started table foods either. All of his progressive steps (crawling, eating thicker foods, reaching for foods, etc) he just kinda started...on his own. I think the one that replied earlier is exactly right. They will do it when they're ready! Remembering that always makes me feel better. I hope the support helps. Your little girl will be just fine, just let her go at her own pace. I'm pretty sure she won't start pre-school still on stage 2 foods - LOL! :) Good luck L.!

I also have a 10 month old daughter who is just the opposite. She loves table foods, but has nothing to do with her solids! I am at wits end. I have to completely distract her like I am going to tickle her and stick the spoon in her mouth. Most of the time she eats what we are eating unless it's spicy or not baby suitable. Anyhow, I am curious to see what sort of responses you get. Good Luck!

My daughter didn't start eating table food till around 12-13 months. Your daughter will start to show interest when she is ready.

All three of mine have been completely different in how they eat. The first only wanted very thin baby food & would gag on anything thicker than the Stage One Gerber stuff until she was quite a bit older than your daughter. Second didn't ever want to eat at all & only wanted to nurse. The third gave up mushy stuff completely at 11 months; she seemed to just decide one day last month that she was over it & ready to chew.

Let her have what she likes & what she'll accept. Continue to offer a little bit of the other stuff & eventually she'll come around to it. Relax your approach & let her decide when it's time to move on.
