Hi All,

Just quickly...when you de-friend someone on facebook does the person get a notice that you took them off your friends list?

~My BFF's husband is VERY 'preachy' with his politics, most times to the point of being mean, he never posts anything other than political stuff and I am over it!

Thanks Guys,
Karma

if you don't like his posts, you don't have to de-friend him, you can just hide his posts and comments. The next time he posts something use the mouse and hover over the right corner of the text box with his post, and you'll see an "X" appear, click on the X and a drop box will give you the option to hide all posts from him. This is a great tool! ;)

they don't get notified. However, you can block that persons status updates from showing on your home page simply by right clicking on the post and hitting and "x". I do this with my BIL, who I dare not unfriend, but I can't stand his real estate business posts.

no, they don't get a notice, BUT, if you defriend him and he tries to go to your page and it says "only friends" can view Karma's page, add as friend then he will know, how about just "hide all posts from this person" or you can block him, that's what I do so I don't hurt peoples feelings, also if you change your mind you can always unblock him...

you can also click on the "X" next to their post and it will say "hide all by ___". I recently did this for a woman who was using profanity. This doesn't de-friend them but it will stop his annoying posts from showing up.

If its just his posts that bug you, when you see one, go to the right of it and highlight over until an X shows, click it & you can hide all posts from him. Or delete him, he wont notice, but your friend might notice when shes at your page that you are missing him as a "friend in common". I notice stuff like that.

no, they don't get a "notice" but he may notice if he goes to his friend list and you are not there anymore! No biggie, I just went psycho on my friend list and deleted more than 50%!!!

Nope - they are not notified.

They may notice, however, that your status updates are no longer in their feed and realize that you unfriended them.

I dont think so. Try it on a friends page. Let them know you just want to experiment. They can add you back on after that. I dont know honestly...I have always wondered this myself. Same with if someone requests your friendship...if you decline, do they get a notice?

no he will never know unless he goes to message you or something. You could also hide all his posts so your friend never somehow notices

No notice. They just aren't your friend anymore. He will only find out if he goes to your page, a picture, etc.

Nope, but if you don't want them to ever find out just go to edit on your home page and don't allow his posts to show. I have a cousin that is almost 50 and has the mouth of a...well, I can't think of anything that has that bad of a potty mouth, I have his posts blocked on my FB home page but he can still message me or I can go to his FB wall and send birthday greetings and such. It suits me to not de-friend him since he is my baby cousin.
