Hi,

Further to my last question, the doctor referred me to do hormones level test, and to do an xray in the uterus.
I have some concerns as for the xray....has anyone had it before and can share her experience of the test?
Does it increase the chances to get preg?
Are 9 months after d&c too short to get preg in my age? Does it usually take more than that?
The d&c was due to the fact that the baby was tangled int he cord, not chromosomal problem, just unfortunate accident. Was in my 4th preg month.

Thank you

What can I do next?

By xray, do you mean hysterosalpingogram (HSG) - where they inject some contrast into the uterus to take the xray? I had it done in Dec. They do it just a few days after your period, so there's no chance your pregnant yet. My regular doctor had refered me to an RE (Reproductive Endochronologist) as I wasn't pregnant after about 18months of trying. &(The HSG and some blood draws to check hormone levels were the first things they did.) My doctor indictated that some studies have shown an increased pregnancy rate in the first three months after the HSG, if nothing is detected. Sure worked for me - I was pregnant the next month. The theory is that injecting the contrast can clean out some minor blockages in the tubes. Might be less of an issue for you though, since you've been pregnant before. I was nervous for the HSG, but it wasn't a big deal (just take 3-4 ibuprophen beforehand) - it was slightly uncomfortable and a felt a few cramps as they injected the contrast, but that's all. I was almost 34.
As for time to get pregnant, I can't really say, but I have heard that even if it's easy one time, it might be harder the next as you get a couple years older.
Hope this helps.

I'm not sure of all of your background, (was the d&c from a miscarriage or other issues) but I would recommend having an ultrasound done if you are either having issues with conceiving or carrying a pregnancy. They can ensure that there isn't any scar tissue or fibroid cysts that could be interfering with implantation of the embryo.

You may want to see a specialist (reproductive endocrinologist) to check your hormone levels and determine if there are any reasons you have hormonal irregularities which can be supplemented if necessary or if it was more of a chromosomal issue. Once we all reach 40, there tend to be more chromosomal abnormalities with eggs so it does tend to take longer to conceive a healthy pregnancy. The doctors refer to anyone over 35 as advanced maternal age.

I had both of my kids at 'advanced maternal age' and we used infertility treatments for both of them with a reproductive endocrinologist. I'm pretty certain that we may not have had any kids without that intervention.

Good luck, stay positive.

I had a hystosalpingiogram. This is where they inject contrast into the uterus & then they take pictures & then remove as much of the contrast as possible. Helps to see adhesions, blockage in the tubes, or tumors. It felt identical to a pap. I had a few twinges later, not quite crampy. It was no biggie. Mine showed all was well. I got pregnant about a year later & miscarried. I then got pregnant a year later & had my son. Only two times I've been pregnant. Hope this helps. Oh & i was 32.

Okay, my 2 cents for what it's worth. I think that you are stressing over getting pregnant again and that may keep you from doing it. Stress does all kinds of bad things to our bodies. I just had a little boy in August after being told I could never have any more after my daughter. She is 17 now and I am pretty long in the tooth, lol.
Just try to relax and let it happen.
All the best and good luck. : )
