After wanting to write a book my entire life, I have started to do so. Have any of you ladies been published? Do you recommend any books or websites that can help me on my journey? Tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi L.,

I am a magazine writer and a published fiction writer. I do have a lot of information on this topic. Feel free to drop me an email. What I'd need to know before making any recommendations is whether you are writing fiction or non-fiction.

Hope to talk to you soon,

M.

This isn't exactly what you asked, but NaNoWriMo is just around the corner and it's very fun! My husband and I both tried last year (we didn't finish, but we wrote a lot and I'm going to try again this November.) The idea is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days (November), and the point is that you have to force yourself to produce word count without stopping to worry about the quality until you're done. The forums are interesting to browse, and there is a Chicago chapter that has meetings, I think. http://www.nanowrimo.org/

Don't know where to begin. I'm writing my third novel, and hang at a bunch of writer's sites. Drop me a PM or email and I can talk to you more about it. What is it about? What genre? Do you write shorts? Lots to talk about. Be prepared to work on it for the next year or two. I'm going back to school to get my MFA as well, so I can teach creative writing.

Peace,
Richard

I would suggest you visit smartwomenscoaching.com for great resources to help you write your book. You will have access to Ruth Klein who has written 17 books including he Destress diva. She has written for O magazine and helps authors become published. You can mention my name M. B. You can find me listed as one of the contributing experts on the site. It has one of the best complete resources for anyone wanting to write a book, start a business or expand a business. Great group of ladies who are part of this. Marci Shimoff who wrote Chicken Soup for the Woman's soul is also a contributing expert.

Hi L.!

I have worked in publishing for the last 20 years. I have published over 60 books, and tons of articles, scripts and other materials. I also worked as the Publishing Director for Big Idea Productions (VeggieTales) for 8 years.

Anyway, I would be happy to help you out. I work with new writers and teach at numerous writers conferences around the nation every year, in addition to offering my own mentorship program for new writers. You can get more info at my website which is: www.KenneyCreative.com. You can email me through my website too and I will try to answer questions you may have.

Also, starting in October, I will be offering short, online classes to help writers in all sorts of various areas. I think these short courses are a good chance for writers to improve their writing, learn the trade, get questions answered, and all without having to leave the house or break the bank! I hope it will be helpful.

Wishing you all the best,
C.
