Hello,
I have some items clothes (baby girls, toddler girls, juniors, ladies, men's), and some household goods items that I would like to donate to charity. BUT would like to donate to a "group" that comes to pick up. When I lived in San Diego, I often donated to AM-VETS. Is there a group like that here? or any other charity type place that will come to your door to pick up your donated items?
Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank You Ladies..... for taking the time to respond and providing me with the information I need to "de-clutter" my home, yet still be able to help others in need. I have already contacted several of the groups you all recommended, and will be scheduling a pick-up for next week. Thanks Again!

You can post it on freecycle. This is a yahoo group. You sign up fot eh one in your neighborhood and then you casn post things for free on their for your neighbors to pick up from you. You can also post this stuff there and say you want it to go to a charity or school. People do this on there all of the time.

Here is what you do.

1. Go to yahoo.com
2. In th eyahoosearh box, type "freecycle".
3. A numbe of listings will come up, choose the one called Freecycle - Around the Globe.
4. From there, pick USA for the country, Illinois for the state and then whichever neighborhood you want to join.
5. There is a short application to be a member (exactly like mamsource) and then you are in. When they ask you why you want to be a member, just write. I am interested in keeping usable items out of the landfill. The website matches people who want to give things away for free to people who need them. The goal is to prevent people throwing things in the garbage that can still be used by others.

Good luck!

Purple hearts, Vietnam War Veterans, Salvation Army, American Cancer Society, You can look online to see if others are local but all of them pick up. You also could donate to Brown Elephant, Ministries or churches, Hadassah House, the ARK, and many many more. If you are not that interested in a tax write off I would personally love to take a look at your girls clothes but I do totally understand if you need the write off. I also did it that way cause I needed the benefits from the donation. Good luck finding the right organization for you and hope it all works out!

I have had better luck with Vietnam Veterans than Am-vets, the # for the Vietnam Vets is ###-###-####. I just called on Monday to say that I have some items to be picked up, and they are coming on Friday.
