Too Many Toys

After Chrsitmas I have realized we have entirely too many toys. I would like to donate them, but don't know where. I DO NOT want to use Purple Heart. I have already given lots to our lighthouse at church. I would like to give to maybe like single moms, people who have just lost everything or something along those lines. People who really need it. I know something like this was posted before, but I could not find it.

What can I do next?

Hello!

Bless you for wanting to give some toys away! Have you been on Freecycle? Look it up on google. We gave away some toys this way. Also, the Baldwin House in Pontiac helps homeless and sruggling families. They could use some things. Good luck!

I often donate my son's toys to a local homeless shelter - they always need just about everything!

T. I think it's a wonderful thing to donate. My mother used to have us donate our things to Big Brother Big Sister who allows people to shop (at no charge) for items that they can use. Teen orphans that aged out of the system, single moms (I'm one of them so I have a place in my heart for all of us), pregnant teens and so forth. I used to donate to the Salvation Army, but there's people who can't even afford that. So I donate to BBBS, and shelters that assist the homeless, and domestic violence shelters. Especially the domestic violence shelters because they're so confined and overlooked. Since you can't just walk into the center to donate you have to call, they can always use things. There's so many women that go to these places and have kids in tow. So I try to split things up, but my heart of donating is usually with those places. I'm sure it will bless someone tremendously either way!

Take care and thank you for donating,

A

What a beautiful gesture! God bless you.

I'm an active member of Freecycle in western wayne county. I have found great homes for alot of my son's old toys... and also found new things for him to play with too. On top of lots of hand me downs..and passed on hand me downs.

Check us out. Freecycle is a Yahoo group. Go into Yahoo Groups and type in Freecycle and find the group closest to your area.

Hi T., these items sound as if they would help my neighbors, grandmother of 2, with one grandchild on the way. Mother of 4, all children live in one house, 2 children are in colledge, only one son is working, plus her husband's job is unsteady, and he has taken a pay cut. Grandkids, 1yr old, 11 yr old, both girls and one on the way. Thank You for your genarosity. Please e-mail if this family sounds like a family in need of your toys. ____@____.com. Thank You

You could donate them to a foster care agency, like Judson center.

You could always donate to Salvation Army or sell them on e-bay or Craigslist and then give the proceeds to a charity. If you don't mind me asking why don't you want to donate to Purple Heart? We donated to them just this week and ended up giving them enough to have a small garage sale. I did my research and I think it's an honorable organization supporting our military personnel. I am interested on your take.

You could contact Abigayle ministries. It is a home for single teen moms who are expecting.

Or you could call a few churches or schools and ask if they have a family in mind who might use them.

I have a heart toward single moms too. Perhaps some churches have a single moms ministry.

Blessings to you. I am feeling the same way about TOO MANY TOYS and other STUFF! I am setting mine aside for a mom to mom sale in the spring. We could use a few extra bucks.

Good for you for donating! I can see you have a big heart for those in need.
