Hi,
one more question, what do you think, should I give my baby the shot? she is 3 month old, I do not want to take a risk of her getting sick, but she's already getting so many shots as it is...
Thank you

Whooping cough is nothing to mess around with. People who get it, no matter what their age, have a hard time surviving it. It's making a comeback. My son got the shot on the regular schedule when he was an infant, and he just got his DTap booster which his school is requiring to enter middle school. Seven infants have died from pertussis so far in 2010 — all younger than 3 months old. That doesn't sound like a lot, but numbers don't matter if the child that dies is yours.

I would say yes. I had all my kids vaccinated-a very hot issue. The main reason I say yes is due to the big comeback recently that has been in the news. I think the western states have been the biggest hit, though not sure if California was the main area.

Pertussis lasts many miserable weeks, and is called "the 100 day cough" in China. Babies die from Pertussis even in this country as there is no treatment and other than easing symptoms Pertussis has to run its very long course. It is on the rise because immunity wears.off with age and adults.and teens are.passing whooping cough to unimmunized babies who are are most vulnerable to.serious complications.

A shot lasts a few.seconds. take a look at what is happening in California right now, this may help you make a good decision.

Yes yes yes. Pertusiss is making a comeback. She is in the highest risk category because of never being vaccinated. Something to think about- the amount of 'infectious dose' she will get in a vaccine is about 1/100th the amount that she could get by just putting a toy in her mouth. These vaccines are safe. Protect her and protect other babies by vaccinating. Good luck with your sweet little one!

I had a friend who had whooping cough (pertussis) and she was in and out of the hospital and had rib stress fractures from coughing and lost so much weight she looked anorexic. It was a horrible horrible thing for her to go through. Thank God all the kids around her were vaccinated. I vote for the shot over getting pertussis.
