I know that there is all types of birth control out there BUT they all have different side effects and some have given people complications. What kind of bith control do you use? Have you used any that gave you horrible side effects? If so, which one? Has anyone had a bad experience from getting tubes tied. I definitely donot want anymore kids but dont know which method of birth control to use. I got pregnant while on the pill! Yes I was takeing it EVERYDAY.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone. After reading your experiences about all of the different side effects you all had from the birth control, I decided that condoms or a vasectomy is best. I maentioned vasectomy to my housband and basically that is out of the question. I thought that was so unfair because he expect me to sacrifice my body but not willing to do the same. He said its gonna be so painful and that getting my tubes tied wont hurt as much. Thats just a bunch of bull. Guess we'll just continue using condoms each and every time.

Old age. I don't much enjoy the side effects. But when I was still capable of bearing young, I was very happy with a tubal ligation.

I had the Adianna procedure done. It is much less invasive than tubal ligation. They just insert plastic coils into your fallopian tubes which causes them to scar up creating a natural barrier for the egg. In 3 months, you go back for an ultrasound and they can test to make sure nothing gets past that point.

I use Paraguard. The non hormonal IUD.

For me, I knew pills wouldn't work. MOstly because I would never remember to take the dang thing.
Also any hormonal Birth control i've been on has made me feel really crappy, all the time.
So after my daughter was born, 8 months ago, I decided to try out Paraguard.

Um it was a little uncomfortable when they put it in. But Honestly I have had no side effect from it yet. Oh my period was a little bit heavier (Tmi sorry) but not that bad at all.

I used birth control pills for 6 years. I had one complication over an other ranging from acne, to eye vision problems, to loss of sex drive, vaginal dryness, and what ultimately convinced me to stop the pill was that every time we had relations, I had breakthrough bleeding. I was put on all different brands of pills but not one brand proved to be beneficial to my well being. I never got pregnant, but the complications were horrid.

Condoms work very well IF you use them properly....and EVERY time.

My husband just got a vasectomy last month because he decided one night to try the withdrawal method on me....and I'm pregnant with our 4th child, preparing for my scheduled c-section....tomorrow.

I have researched getting my tubes tied but for some women, there are lifelong complications. Please research it thoroughly. I've provided a link for you.

My hysterectomy cured me of having more children. It was medically necessary, but I have no concerns over many things anymore after that.
Are you married? Have you talked to your husband about vasectomy? It's much less invasive and pretty permanent. I know women who take the depo shots and they really like it. No reactions or anything. It's once every so many months and they don't even worry about it.
I haven't had to worry about birth control for many, many years. Even before my hysterectomy, I couldn't get pregnant. Well, that's not true because I was scheduled for one after years of no birth control with my husband and found out I was pregnant.

My daughter got pregnant on the pill too. It does happen.
Many women get their tubes tied, but like I said, vasectomy is so much easier if your man will go for it. All the men I know that did it aren't sorry one bit.

Best wishes.

I used Ortho Evra for about 5 years and I loved it! Very few side effects, of course, I was in excellent shape, exercised consistently and am not a smoker. I got off that about 6 months before I wanted to start trying to get pregnant, after the birth of our son, I have been on Mirena IUD for 2.5 years. It does hurt some with insertion and I had bleeding and PMS symptoms for weeks after. I have virtually no period, but lots of breakthrough bleeding and I get PMS BAD like clockwork every month, like a period without a period, it's really annoying! I am pretty sure that my weight gain, mood swings, anxiety all stem from it partially too. I have considered going off it, but I don't like pill form birth control and DH and I don't enjoy sex with condoms-so I keep on it for now....

I used the Depo shot for a year but it made me feel like I was PMSing all the time. I bled very heavily, like nearly two week long periods, for the first three months... then they stopped completely for the rest of the year. No more periods. That was pretty nice, but after a solid year of mood swings and irrational behavior I had to call it quits. I also gained ten pounds and would love to blame that on the shot but who knows, had I not been taking the shot I may have still gained those ten pounds.

After I stopped the Depo, I went on Ortho Tri Cyclen and took it for years and eventually got pregnant while on it. After that I tried Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and that worked well for a long time but my blood pressure became elevated and the doctor wanted to switch me away from an estrogen based pill to progesterone only. I've been using that one for nearly five months now but as of today, my period is three days late.

My husband is researching getting a vasectomy because it's such an easy surgery compared to getting your tubes tied. And I'm tired of dropping a stress brick in my pants every time my period is a day late.
